Kris Aquino defends brother Noynoy's TV Patrol speech: “[He] has the right to defend himself & express his opinion.”

Kris Aquino posted this message on her Twitter account last night, July 30, to defend her brother, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III: “[He] has the right to defend himself & express his opinion. Freedom of speech is a 2 way street right?”

PNoy was criticized by ABS-CBN stalwarts for taking Noli de Castro to task when the President delivered a “prangka” speech at the 25thanniversary celebration of TV Patrol last Friday, July 27.

(CLICK HERE to read full speech of PNoy.)

“@NinaBellatrix1 has the right to defend himself & express his opinion? Freedom of speech is a 2 way street right?” sabi ni Kris sa kanyang Twitter post kagabi, July 30.

Sabi pa ni Kris, “@NinaBellatrix1 PNoy is our president & I do believe the majority of our people feel he's doing a great job. Maybe he just like anybody else.”

Prayed be4 I replied to make sure I don't tweet the wrong thing. My issues r so trivial in comparison to PNoy.”

THE “PRANGKA” SPEECH.

let me repeat myself, if penoy was MAN enough, he wouldve mentioned Noli's name instead of making insinuations... still, he decided to ruin the whole situation by acting like a brat...

Funny how people would think that it's ok for the media to attack the President's private and public persona and contend that it's wrong for the President to say his piece when he has the opportunity to do so. Kris is right in saying that the freedom of speech is a two-way street. The media abuse in the Philippines is rampant where news are delivered in a biased manner - who else will castigate the media better than the President of the Philippines. Grow up and be more sensible mga kababayang Pinoy.

I totally agree with you manjo. I've noticed that most comments here are what you call coming from palengke, full of profanities and hatred. I hope they learn how to give subtle, objective and constructive criticisms. Just my two cents.

typical of Pinoys to magnify and see fault and wrongdoings but can never address the problem objectively. Pnoy brought some integrity back to the Philippines when he "cleaned" his "backyard" ... tingnan nyo na lang ang GDP figures for the last two years and compare that to Gloria's 6-year term - we're on the right track. Di yan nararamdaman ng mga Pinoy dahil coz they're busy complaining about everything in their lives instead of contributing to the upliftment of Pnoy's program. Sa dami ng namihasang mangurakot during the past administration, it is a big feat for Pnoy to clean-up - common sense na lang.

Ganito Lang yan! Kapag totoo masakit tanggapin... Di ako mkPnoy pero agree ako sa pagkaprangka Nya, walang wrong and right timing, pag may opportunity, grab it! Kaya kayong mga nega, MOVE ON!

Coming from a family with great education and reputation when it comes to decorum, it's a disappointment. Mr. President, focus on positive! I'm not a big fan of Noli Boy but to ruin the 25th anniversary with "pasaring" to one person who pissed you off, is uncalled for. I guess being "tacklesa" runs in the family.

Pnoy has all the right to feel offended. His mother Cory gave back abs cbn and meralco back to the lopezes.

have you tried reading the transcript of his speech?... im not a yellow ribbon army but looking at both sides, i think it was not intended to bash, it is straightforward which the filipinos are not accustomed to..

    07/31/2012 | 11:51 PM
it WAS intended to bash... let's be realistic about that...

    08/01/2012 | 01:37 PM
well, i would have to disagree with you. He stated facts, it'll probably be considered bashing because again, filipinos are not acquainted with straight talks!.. just dont sweat on it too much and would appreciate if you show a little respect by calling him with his name, you yourself would prefe to be called by your name wont you and not with some trashy ones?

Pnoy's speech may have been inappropriate but I guess just for this one time his frank speech might make ABS news dept. to ask itself if it was really a wise move to hire Noli back. It's definitely uncomfortable for a former politician from the past admin to make any commentaries on the present admin. It makes him less credible considering that during his time, there's nothing much that he has done for the progress of our country. This is just what I can say - the nerve.

That was not the right time and place to insult someone who was one of the forces behind the show that was being honored. BRAT talaga. BRAT to the core. Arrogant, condescending, disrespectful, sorry excuse for a president. No wonder he was voted online as the WORLD'S WORST Leader. Nakakahiya!

Sure. Just because he once was the VP does not mean na wala na siyang karapatan magtrabaho as a news anchor. Besides, freedom of speech just like every other freedom is NEVER absolute. It is relative. Limited by the respect for other's freedom as well. We, as citizens of a free country can basically do whatever we want, but our actions should not be contrary to LAW, MORALS, GOOD CUSTOMS, PUBLIC POLICY and PUBLIC ORDER. Nasa batas yan. Wala ba talagang alam yang si Noynoy? Yung ginawa niya, obvious na contrary to good customs. That was not the time and place to b1tch about Noli. Ilagay sa lugar and tantrums niya. Kaloka siya. The party was to honor TV Patrol, hindi political rally. Walang modo talaga.
