Kris Aquino defends brother Noynoy's TV Patrol speech: “[He] has the right to defend himself & express his opinion.”

Kris Aquino posted this message on her Twitter account last night, July 30, to defend her brother, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III: “[He] has the right to defend himself & express his opinion. Freedom of speech is a 2 way street right?”

PNoy was criticized by ABS-CBN stalwarts for taking Noli de Castro to task when the President delivered a “prangka” speech at the 25thanniversary celebration of TV Patrol last Friday, July 27.

(CLICK HERE to read full speech of PNoy.)

“@NinaBellatrix1 has the right to defend himself & express his opinion? Freedom of speech is a 2 way street right?” sabi ni Kris sa kanyang Twitter post kagabi, July 30.

Sabi pa ni Kris, “@NinaBellatrix1 PNoy is our president & I do believe the majority of our people feel he's doing a great job. Maybe he just like anybody else.”

Prayed be4 I replied to make sure I don't tweet the wrong thing. My issues r so trivial in comparison to PNoy.”

THE “PRANGKA” SPEECH.

I'd rather have a tactless president, if we could call him such, than a corrupt one.

That was the right thing to do! Para maisip rin ni NOli de Castro na before when he was VP wala nman syang nagawa pero ngayon akala mo kung sinong perfect kung makipagbigay opinion kahit di nmn need ng opinion nya doon sa binabalita nya! Just stick to the news and let the people assess it at hindi yung binbrainwash mo utak ng tao pertaining to a certain topic or news. Although it was TV patrol's 25th anniv, IMO, Pnoy's speech served as a reminder to them and not to lambast or spoil the celeb. Ako nga twing nakikita ko si Noli pag bumabanat naiisip ko na lang KALA MO KUNG SINO ETO EH NUNG VP WALA NAMANG NAGAWA AT NAACCOMPLISH! OO LANG NG OO KAY GMA! I'd still rather have the trio of Julius Babao, Karen Davila and Ted Failon in TV Patrol!

Yes I agree, it's his right of expression, just like the media has it. People think that since it's their 25th anniversary party, the President's comments are inappropriate. Well, they asked him to speak. It's not as if he volunteered himself. I'm sure his speech contained congratulatory as well as this constructive advice addressed to the media. His point is to practice responsible journalism and not be too opinionated based on personal ill feelings toward an individual. Even in weddings, there are congratulatory words, wishes, as well as advices.

Kris, its not the criticism, its the manner. Though Pnoy may have the point and freedom, it wasnt the right place and time. He was invited to a party what did he do? he bashed the party host in front of the guests. Was it appropriate? No.

This is the EXACT explanation. . . . .

Sorry Kris, if your brother can make a frank speech, he can also defend himself from criticism about what he did without you sounding off. It was a TV PATROL CLEBRATION, not Noli De Castro ROAST, it was not suppose to be a political occasion. I have a lot of things I do not agree with ABS-CBN and not much respect for their public affairs department but that was not even the point. Only a woman in their monthly period can be that mataray!

I watched his speech and its theme is not all about NOLI, he was encouraging abs and others to appreciate the government had done to the country and not only on the bad things happened in our country,. The thing is even if the news is a good one, NOLI is always looking for any tiny detail to criticize the government and thus hurt the image of the pHilippines. One question, if you think Pnoy's lecture was untimely, then tell me when is the right time to relay the message to Noli and media? Conclusion: Instead of criticizing again pnoy's speech, think positive that it will help to unite us and make our Philippines the tiger of asia. wat u think?

Yes, i read his speech, actually, it was good until he took things personal. First of all, what was he there for? As Benigno Aquino III, the private citizen or the President? Was he there with the ambassadors of the different countries? Is he acting as DOT secretary?Having a detractor is part of being a president, he should not take things personal. I believe he is taking it personal then, talk to that one person that you think that offended you. You don't have to sell your good deeds if the people can see it. Again, it is not the venue that he voiced out his disapproval of Noli's style of reporting. He can call a press conference, the tools are there at his disposal to use to dispute Noli De Castro one on one. Afterall, he is the president. I noticed that this administration is the only one who's so touchy on all levels, there are things that you should not even dignify by another sarcastic remarks, it's immature! We need to gain the respect of other countries in order for them to consider us t

and oh, by the way, didn't he just delivered his SONA, so nakapagyabang na sya doon, BTW, did he acknowledged the private sector in helping his government? I wish he did, but then again, he is not like his parents! he is too defensive!

Tama, Pnoy doesn't even have to be the president they just dislike him for other ignorant reason. After all hate equals ignorance. I won't be surprised if they hate him for just being not one of them as well.

I don't see anything wrong what PNOY have had said. It was a frank speech and it doesn't demean a person. It even serves as eye opener to all media practioner. All are reminded especially the commentators, you have a responsibility to the public. Be watchful of your mouth.
