It will be recalled that the Filipina actress wore a terno when she walked the red carpet at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.

Meredes was named "The Most Beautiful Woman in Cannes" in 2009, through an online voting organized by the Cannes paparazzi.

She got 54 percent of the votes. And she was up against Indian actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, plus Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek.

Aside from being given the chance to walk on the red carpet, the indie film actress also looks forward to seeing the reaction of foreigners to Thy Womb.

“Excited akong makita kung paano ang festival doon. Gusto ko rin makita ang reaksiyon ng mga tao pag napanood nila ang pelikula.”

SHOOTING IN THE “VENICE OF THE SOUTH.” Being part of the movie has allowed Mercedes to see a different side of the Philippines.

“Noong ginagawa namin ang Thy Womb, alam namin na magiging makulay ang pelikula. Pero noong napanood ko, nagulat ako na ganun.

"As in, nagka-goosebumps ako na makitang ganun kaganda ang kulay. Parang, ‘Wow! Ang ganda ng Pilipinas!’"

She gushed, “Hindi ko alam na ganun kaganda ang Tawi-Tawi!”

The actress dismissed stereotypes about this island province of Mindanao.

“Ang reaction kasi pag sinabing Tawi-Tawi, ‘Naku, magulo diyan, delikado diyan.’ Pero hindi.

"Noong pumunta kami dun, yung mga tao sobrang warm at sobrang inalagaan kami.

“Nahirapan lang mag-shoot kasi kasama namin si Ms. Nora Aunor. Yung mga tao, talagang dumog! Crowd-control wise, ang hirap. Si Direk Brillante, medyo nalilimitahan sa shots.

"Nag-shoot kami sa Sitangkai island. Ang tawag sa kanya, ‘Venice of the South’ kasi puro bangka doon at yung mga bahay nasa stilts.

“Maliit lang yung lugar, at pag maraming tao, nalilimitahan ang mga shots ni Direk.”

WORKING WITH THE SUPERSTAR. What is it like working with the Superstar? 

“Nung narinig ko na makakatrabaho ko si Ms. Nora Aunor, talagang nanginig ako noon, e.
