Sagot ni Tony, “We didn' t want to go to Europe. Bourne's gone to Europe.

“We thought about Latin America, Southeast Asia… there are several films that we’re planning on going to Latin America.

“Pat Crowley, the producer and I who've travelled all over around the world and all these movies, we went... had a beauty pageant.

“We went to Jakarta [Indonesia], we went to Ho Chi Min City [Vietnam], we went to Manila, over a course of a couple of weeks.

"And we landed in Manila and it felt so Bourne-ish.

"It's just so colorful and ugly and gritty, raw and stinky and crowded...

“They had a great film industry there for years built off the Vietnam films.

I agree sa sinabi nya. Totoo naman. They wanted a location and it so happen fitting yung Manila sa requirement nila. So they shoot. Guys, it's not about Pinoy Pride or Ganda ng Pilipinas - it's all about hollywood movies here. If you want to market the Philippines, magumpisa muna magkaroon ng Malaking waste management system ang Gov't para may masundan ang mga tao at meron available na tamang tapunan at para naman sa susunod hindi na kukunin ang Pilipinas ng Hollywood producers dahil malinis na. Sobra kasi assuming ang mga iba. Porket mo nagshoot na Pinoy Pride kaagad. I still love the Philippines kahit marumi.

Regardless if this is true, this is bad publicity for us Pinoy. Lets be patriotic mga kababayan! Ung ibang kano miski pangit talaga ang iba nilang lugar pinagtanggol pa rin nila ung bansa nila. They chose us for the wrong reason. Isipin nyo if mangyari sa mga bahay nyo? Pinili Kc madumi etc. would u be glad? At sabi nga dito pati president dw natin e napakadaling tawagan! We showed our hospitality, theres many good things to say why they chose our country, he could have said people are so much approachable, the streets are so "bourne" and would ahow the real story of the film!

Take it as a compliment.

100 percent agree. Ano bang gusto niyo, maging ipokrito siya? Yon ang eksaktong lugar na hanap nila to shoot the film at sa Manila nila nahanap yon.

Countries all over the world are randomly filmed and portrayed this way. Brazil where they filmed Need for Speed and The Hulk are examples... raw and dirty tingnan. Mexico and specially India, biro biruan na here in the States that you will get sick in the stomach when you eat food there. Thailand has been depicted many times, prostitution ang background. Vietnam was a film setting for the movie Same, same but Different and rampant Aids ang topic. The only thing we can do is provide balance and seize the opportunity na maipakita naman ang good side ng Pinas.

One cannot educate the whole population overnight. It'd take generations of disciplined individuals to pull that off. Don't just blame the government for the cleanliness and hygiene. And btw, So. Africa is a stable country with a lot of good things. Just because it is 'Africa' does not make it one of those destitute countries in that continent. Johannesburg, the capital, is beautiful.

Excuse me, kahit ano pang crowded or dumi ng pilipinas you don't expose that especially to the press and the rest of the world. It's rude. Kung pupunta ka sa isang lugar where you were prioritized and had everything your way, at least be grateful. It's not very polite to go on bashing some city you had to use for your own benefits. I just find it really rude. We did them a favor, not the other way around since it's not like they featured anything that benefit our country. If anything, it put even worse images in minds of people.

Can't live based on denial. The movie needed facts to make it more raw. AGAIN, this is not a TOURISM promo. They came here for the real thing which is great for the movie. Just for the sake of argument, how would it sound if he only mentioned the beautiful parks and homes in Makati etc. but the movie showed Pasay and Tondo? Would not make sense. They might as well have come to Europe for that but won't really give the raw scenes they wanted to depict.

People, this is not a tourism promo. The man is just saying it as it really is! All that crowd, dirt and all were what's needed for this exciting movie. Besides, that IS Manila. Why hide the fact? Everybody knows it anyway. Love it or leave it. Film it.

Two mornings ago, I heard on the radio this DJ asking how was our country presented in this movie and maybe that is the most relevant question of all. Sadly, I believe that we were presented in the very exact reasons why they chose to film here - colorful, dirty, gritty and crowded. What a feeling.
