Sagot ni Tony, “We didn' t want to go to Europe. Bourne's gone to Europe.

“We thought about Latin America, Southeast Asia… there are several films that we’re planning on going to Latin America.

“Pat Crowley, the producer and I who've travelled all over around the world and all these movies, we went... had a beauty pageant.

“We went to Jakarta [Indonesia], we went to Ho Chi Min City [Vietnam], we went to Manila, over a course of a couple of weeks.

"And we landed in Manila and it felt so Bourne-ish.

"It's just so colorful and ugly and gritty, raw and stinky and crowded...

“They had a great film industry there for years built off the Vietnam films.

I disagree with people here. Even if everything he said might have been true, it still doesn't give him an excuse to use really insulting words. Just because it's the truth does not cover up the fact that its hurtful and belittling. It's just plain disrespectful. They were allowed to film here and were prioritized even if we knew the movie will reflect a negative light towards the Philippines. At least have some decency to not bash the place where they received special treatment and warm welcomes. Filipinos shouldn't even be proud of this film, if anything it just portrays Manila in a very bad way.

We are very rich in mosquitoes and cockroaches and rats. Our actors are also politicians and our politicians are actors. LOL. like the sarcasm. Time to wake up Filipinos! Piles of garbage, over population, pollution, matagal na etong problema, hanggang ngayon hindi pa na solusyonan kasi ang tatamad ang iba sa atin, and on top of that mga lideres na instead maging model for change, ang ginawa mangurakot. You can't teach old dog with new tricks...hopefully we can.

You want the guy to lie, that MANILA is clean, people are so disciplined, you won't see any garbage all around, the air is clean, etc etc. They chose Manila because it's the real deal, pasok sa requirement nila.

REALITY CHECK, PEOPLE! REALITY CHECK!!! Nagagalit kayo kapag may kabayan kayong pumupuna sa bantot at dumi ng pinas, sinasabihan niyo ng kesyo mayabang, lumaki ulo, ek ek... O ANO NGAYON? CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF, you dont need to clean up the whole damn country, JUST YOURSELF AND YOUR SURROUNDING. malaking tulong na yon. susme, from generations to generations pare pareho ang kwento puro mga walang disiplina sa sarili.. magaling lang kasi kayo sa pamimintas kaya ayan kayo naman ang pinintasan, which is undeniably true naman kaya huwag ng magbalat sibuyas.

Before we get all riled up and offended, what this guy said is true actually. We wanted them here, were willing to offer our top character actors to pick up fruits from the streets, no speaking lines. Hey, we felt proud that they chose our place, never mind that they had to pay us cheap to shoot here. We wanted the publicity, the opportunity to see them work, the excitement and nobody minded that they routed traffic for weeks, that motorists cussed and pedestrians went almost berserk with frustration. Nothing mattered except that we will part of the Bourne history. John Arcilla described it as surreal even.

Kahit hindi nila sabihin ito na talaga ang imahe ng Pilipinas, even if they don't verbally express it - ganito ang tingin ng karamihan pero lumalaban naman tayo sa tourism kaya nga it's more fun in the Philippines eh, not more clean, or not more beautiful or not more fragrant....

Ugly, duh?! I can take the rest but not the word ugly, come on! And excuse me, yes they paid but that's not a reason for him to say na parang utang na loob pa natin. Hello, they benefited a lot from it dahil mas mura ang binayaran nila and everything was made available to them with a flick of a finger, they just cant do that in other countries.

He was asked the question, he answered it truthfully. Exactly as he answered it, that's what they looked for, to make the movie more enteresting and at the same time to have benefited from it kasi nga mura magshoot sa Pilipinas.

True! That sums it all! The people made Manila this way. Manila is not stinky without the people making it stink with trash and what-not. Manila is not crowded without the overpopulation of the city!

His comment has a concrete basis. Let's face it. He did not say anything wrong, all are facts, Truth! Please read carefully and understand. He said "bourne-ish" meaning Manila really suit what they needed for the film. Nothing to be offend of. FYI, he commended Philippines for film making.
