Lindsay Lohan has been arrested.

The Liz & Dick actress was taken into custody by police for leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly clipping a pedestrian with her car in New York City early this morning (September 19).

According to TMZ.com, Lindsay was pulling in at low speed to park her Porsche Cayenne near the Dream Hotel when she allegedly hit the knee of an unnamed man in his 30s.

One of Lindsay's passengers got out and checked her vehicle for damage, and then the group went into the hotel.

Police were called and when she walked out of the building at 2.30 a.m.—around half an hour after the accident—the actress was arrested.

Lindsay, 26, was booked for the misdemeanor offense of leaving the scene of an accident and released with a desk appearance ticket, meaning she did not have to pay bail before release.

The alleged victim was not knocked down by the vehicle and had no visible injuries, but was still taken to hospital.

Though the offense is a misdemeanor, it could trigger a probation violation in the Mean Girls star's jewellery theft case as one of the conditions of probation is that she obeys all laws.
