Charice's manager questions Pinoys who rave about Jessica Sanchez: "...it's kind of wrong to say Jessica is part of Filipino pride when she is American before anything else."

"If only the people of the Philippines would stop looking elsewhere and focus on local things, maybe they could see the value of many of  the great people and resources there," says Charice's manager, Courtney Blooding, about Pinoys who are raving about Jessica Sanchez (left).

"why do the Philippines claim Jessica Sanchez? Jessica was born an raised in the US. I don't THINK she speaks tagalog.

"which, to me, makes her true American. How many people in the US come from mixed cultural backgrounds? We r a melting pot.

"AND I just read that this concert is her first ever trip to the Philippines....

"isn't a Filipino passport kind of a big indication of citizenship and a lack of one a big indication of no citizenship?"

Aniya, "If only the people of the Philippines would stop looking elsewhere and focus on local things, maybe they could see the value of many of of the great people and resources there. Many great things and people there. It's just a group mentality that it's not good enough

"It's kind of a turn off to a foreigner such as myself cuz it can come across as ungrateful for the talent and resources god gave."

DIFFERENT OPINIONS.

Saad ni Blooding, "there is room for everyone an people will love or hate no matter what. But I just think it's kind of wrong to say Jessica is part of Filipino pride when she is American before anything else.

"And the more I think about it, I start to get insulted on many levels.

imho, citizenship does not only depend on what passport you are holding. it also depend on bloodline and the willingness to embrace a culture. c jessica may not be a filipino citizen, but based on what she says, she seems willing to embrace the filipino culture. if it is true or not, then we give it unto her... it is not easy andnot right to compare chariceand jessica. although i am not a follower of these two girls, i find their attitudes and talents on the extreme opposite ends of the bar... charice likes to sing all birit songs without emotions... just like what singing judges say, somebody who just like to sing and finish the song. jessica is very different... when she sings, you can really feel her emotions... charice is seen to be "mayabang", as in sobra. aba, nakapunta langsa ibang bansa, kahit nasa pinas na, inggles pa din magsalita kahit tagalog ang tanong!!! at slang na ha! hahaha... what happened to charice's short shot to fame definitely not inthe phils is a proof of how poor her attitude is... ginu-groom pa lang yumabang na. at kahit anong drama gagawin para lang pag usapan. see how was shw when her father died no offense? imo, she was only tr

Hey ms/mr coach whatever you are. Talking about being filipina.... If charice was satisfied, why did she have to change her hair color? Why is she acting like she doesn't know how to speak her own language? Why did she appear in foreign talk show when she could have guested in local shows? We filipinos rooted for her and she had her moments. We appreciated her but the world does not revolve around her. Like other stars, she has negative issues surrounding her right now including disrespecting her mom because of stardom getting through her head or should i say because of your brainwashing? Dont act like she was never appreciated because she WAS.....

Jessica may be an American by virtue of her U.S. citizenship, but at least she didn't deny her Filipino heritage. I am sure her mom and lola had instilled in her some good Filipino values that's why she easily identifies with locals or natives. So what kung hindi siya marunong mag-Tagalog. Hindi naman talaga madali matutunan sp? ang Pilipino language unless you are fully immersed in the culture and daily Tagalog conversations. Importante may pusong Pinoy at may malasakit. Bitter much, Ms. Blooding?!

Bakit, masama bang humanga sa Amerikanang sinisikap maging Pinay? That's better than a Filipina who tries to be an American, changing hair color.

No I think the real issue is not that Pinoys aren't supporting pure Pinoy's, just Charice. I mean come on Sarah Geronimo and other full Filipino celebrities have sold out concerts all over the world.

No disrespect to Charice's manager to come at the Filipino people that way. First of all, many Filipino superstars weren't born in Philippines nor are they full blooded Filipinos. Heck, they didn't even speak Tagalog until they learned; Sam Milby, Gerald Anderson, and Anne Curtis just to name a few. But, Filipinos embraced them and acknowledged their talents. Yes, Jessica Sanchez was born and raised in America, never been to Philippines, half Mexican, can't speak or understand Filipino, but who's to say she wasn't instilled with Filipino values and traditions? Filipinos are proud that someone of their heritage is being recognized in a country not of their own. Second, Charice was appreciated in Philippines for her talent even before her fame in the America. Third, it's also unfair to say Philippines can't claim something that is made in USA because being made in a country has nothing to do with heritage. Jessica might not have been to Philippines, but maybe her mom has. Unlike most Caucasians, Filipinos that are in America are only 2nd or 3rd generations that immigrated from Philippines.

Like I said 2nd or 3rd generation. Not growing up in the Philippines doesn't make you any less Filipino. I have friends who are half Filipino, can't speak the language, never been to Philippines but consider themselves more Filipino than anything.

Grow up!

I totally agree with Charice's manager. Unfortunately, its true. Most Pinoys are like that, they tend to claim somebody or something kung kailan nakikilala ito, no matter how small the percentage ang pagkagawang Pinoy nito.

Now we know who's the devil's advocate in Charice's drastic change. I remember checking on Charice almost every hour before. But when she started posting negative tweets, making careless statements, I stopped. Im a resigned Chaster. I know she'd say WHO CARES. Im counting a few months before Charice will be dropped to nothing.

technically, she's not a filipino because she was not born and grew up in the philippines. she is an american citizen - that's a fact! but then, there's nothing wrong if we call her part of filipino pride because of the idea that filipino blood still runs through her veins.

Prounciation and diction ni CHARICE, trying hard like her famous line " I can't bilibit".
