Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Paul Jake Castillo clinched second place in the first ever Jollibee Drive-Thru Cross Country Challenge that brought ten teams on the ultimate road trip adventure spanning Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Paul Jake, together with his best friend Jan Senerpida, accumulated 3,039 points throughout the 10-day challenge and were awarded P100,000 in cash at the culmination event held recently at the Sunset Pavilion of Sofitel Hotel.
Paul Jake's girlfriend and Walang Hanggan star Melissa Ricks was also present during the event to support her beau.
"Love Partners in Crime" Jon Hall and Maria Persson also placed fourth with 2,979 points, winning P10,000 worth of Jollibee gift certificates.
The teams also received a Samsung Galaxy Note as a special prize.
Winning first place were Loyal Allies Nino Duran and Anthony Gaas who received P1 million in cash (tax-free) and two brand new Ford Fiesta 1.4L AT Hatchbacks courtesy of Ford Group Philippines.
The other participating teams who took on the first Jollibee Drive-Thru Cross Country Challenge were: Third placers and Party Pals Francis Lim and Joaquin Puyat, Kings of the Road Ulysses Ang and Neil Pagulayan, Magnetic Opposites Robert Real and Quinito Villarosa, The Ultrarunners Michelle Estuar and Prince Baltazar, Witty and Wacky DJ Duo Andre Co and Cerah Hernandez, Partners for Life JM Oloris and Irene Oloris, and Euro-Pinoy Models Charlie Sutcliffe and Angelo Cacciatore.
Each team received P10,000 worth of Jollibee gift certificates.
The 10 teams conquered the 10-day cross-country challenge, driving their Ford Fiesta Sport Plus 1.6L PowerShift AT Hatchback to cover as many of the 171 Jollibee Drive-Thru stores as they could and accomplish exciting in-store tasks in identified tourist destinations.
These included working as Jollibee crew members, manning the drive-thru window during the graveyard shift and serving the customers, as well as biking along the San Juanico Bridge in Leyte, wakeboarding at the CamSur Watersports Complex in Camarines Sur, and facing Asia's longest dual zipline at the Dahilayan Adventure Park in Bukidnon.
Paul Jake considered the underwater treasure challenge at Saud Beach in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte as one of the most demanding tasks in the cross-country quest. It took Paul Jake nine dives before he got the treasure chest containing the missing piece of the puzzle that they had to complete. This little bump, however, did not hinder the two from being smitten with the Boracay of the North.
"It's impossible not to fall in love with a view as stunning as that," the Best Buddies from Cebu said.
The teams also built model houses for Gawad Kalinga in Iligan and for completing the task, P30,000 was donated to the victims of natural calamities.
