Although Andrea Nicole Guck Eigenmann, or more popularly known to fans as Andi Eigenmann did not win in this year’s MYX VJ Search, the budding actress from the well-known and respected Eigenmann clan of thespians believes there are other things in store for her in show business.
Although the 19-year-old daughter of esteemed movie performers Jaclyn Jose and Mark Gil was one of the favorites to win as one of the “Newest Ambassadors of the Republic of MYX,” Andi says she felt no disappointment when 22-year-old Janine Ramirez was announced as the new female VJ of the music channel instead of her.
"I actually thought I would be [one the winners] after the search, but then, as they announced the winners, I was perfectly okay with it. Kasi sa tingin ko, para sa mga nanalo na talaga ‘yon, and there are a lot of other things in store for me naman. Siguro, for me, better pa," says the sweet-faced Andi.
Andi admitted that she really wanted to follow the footsteps of her parents, who, like most in her family, are well-respected and award-winning actors and actresses.
"I would love to be like my other family members. Especially, my parents and aunt [actress Cherry Gil], being well- respected actors. I admitted po na my heart is more into acting than in hosting, so yes. Pero siyempre po, I want to have my own identity and eventually step out of their shadow din naman. I said, to get where my relatives are, I'd grab the opportunities I have and prepare very well for each and I will always give my 100% in every project I do. Kahit gaano po katagal yung process okey lang po. Hindi naman pwedeng over-night, nandun ka na agad sa taas," asserts the young actress.
Andi happily talked more about her family especially her half-sisters and half-brothers whom she gets to hang-out with from time to time.
"Though I’d only get to see the older ones from to time or during special occasions, since they’re busy already and we all dont live together naman. But Im really close to my younger sister Stevie. We hang out when we can and we talk a lot," shares Andi.
She even answered questions on issues regarding her half-sisters Ira and Maxine. It can be remembered that Maxine Eigenmann was once mistaken as Ira Eigenmann who had once been the talk of the town because of her alleged racy pics on the Net. What does Andi have to say if she gets to be in Maxine's position in the mistaken identity situation?
"Hindi pa naman po nangyayari yon sakin. Medyo malayo yung age gap namin ni Ate Ira. Pero kung may incident na ganoon. I’ll just ignore it. I’d let them know that they’ve mistaken pero I don’t think I’m in the position to say anything. And I think tapos naman na po yung issue na yon," she answers.
Incidentally, Andi is now of legal age. Would she ever pose for FHM, if ever she gets an offer?
"Well, just turned 19, so I don’t think I feel old enough or ready to take an offer like that."
Andi is currently under Star Magic and soon would be signing a contract with ABS-CBN but she decided not to splurge details of whatever ABS-CBN has in store for her at this early stage. But she said she'd probably do TV shows. She also expressed her interest in doing indie films in the near future but only with her mom's consent.
"As of now there’s no sure project or whatsoever. But right now, I’m just really busy preparing for something to come. Habang wala pa, binubuhos ko muna yung time ko sa pagpapayat and pagre-ready. Gusto ko na kasi talaga ito," admits Andi.
"My dream movie po is kahit ano po na naganap nung unang kapanahunan pa. Like yung sa panahon ng kastila ganun po na drama. Or to play a role of a mermaid po. Lumaki po kasi ako ng nasa swimming pool or dagat po halos araw araw," Andi said when asked about her dream movie.
And her message to her fans:
"Thank you. Uhm, I’d like to let them know lang po na I’m very very thankful and their support is very much appreciated. And sana po patuloy nila akong suportahan sa Channel 2, kasi siguradong makikita pa rin naman po nila ako sa TV ngayon."
