From her new CD Believe, Rachel Alejandro sings an Olivia Newton-John classic hit.
"Xanadu" was originally from the soundtrack of the movie with the same title which was shown in 1980. Starring Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck and Gene Kelly, the movie did not even break even. The soundtrack, however, was a huge hit with "Xanadu," "Suddenly" (by Olivia and Cliff), "Magic" (by Olivia) and "All Over The World" (by the Electric Light Orchestra) hitting the top spots in the American Top 40 music charts in 1980. In 2007, a broadway musical version was staged. It was a surprise hit and was nominated for several Tony awards. The original cast CD was released on December 2007. The Broadway production closed on September 28, 2008 after 49 previews and 512 performances.
This video of Rachel singing "Xanadu" was taken from her March 1 guesting in RX 93 to promote her new CD, Believe. Video by Ms. Girlie Rodis.
Rachel will also star in the Atlantis broadway production of Xanadu in September at the RCBC Theater.
