Martin and Pops "Missing You" concert brings memories and tears
There was a "love" portion, a "sex" medley, the "Now Vows," the "We are Family" number, and a surprise song by Gary Valenciano. The Big Dome was filled with whoas, ahs, aws, and yeheys during the much-anticipated concert of Martin and Pops last February 6.

The reunion concert of Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez was a trip down memory lane. One of the most applauded portions was the "balik-Penthouse" medley. (The ex-couple met and fell in love during their Penthouse days.)
Since their separation, which eventually led to the annulment of their marriage in 2000, big changes happened in their lives.
Martin now has a son with ex-girlfriend Katrina Ojeda. Pops has Jomari Yllana, her boyfriend of three years.
And intermittently, the public would witness their banter and word wars.
The crowd was given a mild sampler that night. Martin teased Pops about her outfit and headdress, "it's like a chandelier."
The changes in their lives, the differences, including their previous fights would usually get dissolved whenever they perform together. Here, they opened the show with a "love" medley.
Pops told the crowd, "We missed you, do you miss us?"
The crowd did miss seeing the Concert King and Queen on stage, where they looked very compatible.
Initially, Jomari announced that GMA-7 would be the official media partner. But given that Martin and Pops are both talents of ABS-CBN, the concert was also promoted in the Kapamilya station.
The day prior to the concert, which happened to be Martin's birthday, he got emotional upon learning that his sons would have a number with him and Pops.
Ram could sing and also draw. He created the animation which was shown on the screen during the "We Are Family" number. It was about a hero saving his lady.
The concert would be incomplete, of course, without Martin's signature songs, one of which was "Be My Lady." He sang the ballad beside Rufa Mae Quinto, a friend of Pipay (Pops' nickname).
The highlight of Missing You was the "Now Vow," Martin's concept, which did not appeal to Pops at first. It was the word "vow" that made her uneasy. "Parang ang hirap gawin," she said.
But the novelty of the idea overruled Pipay's hesitation.
"Years ago, I've found a friend. From friendship to a love that never ends. Tonight, at this moment, I can say and it's obvious to all that I
can't stay away.
"No matter what you do or who you're doing it with, I
will always be like a father and the father of your kids. I'm there
when you need me even if privately, publicly, we fight.
"In front of family, friends, and God's too, let me thank you for simply being you.
"The Pops I knew is far away. The Pops that you're now is here to stay.
"So much to foe, you've grown to be, so proud am I that I quickly cried on TV. No matter what they say, no matter what they fight, we'll always
find a way to end our every fight.
"Some years ago, I said, 'I do' with
you. Even though I didn't do what I said I'll do.
"So today, I am happy to still be a part of your life. Even though I am not just a husband when you were a passive wife.
"I promise you today with this my Now Vow to be there when you need
me or for as long as you're alive. For our love knows no time. Our love
knows no pain. Our love takes us to a happy place. Not in the courtroom
and not in Disneyland. But right here on stage, in front of every woman
and man. The world is at peace when we are together.
"You know what, Mart, this is the hardest thing I've ever done. When
I was writing, I'm already crying. I couldn't help myself. This is the
hardest thing I'll ever do, not because I don't have a way but because
I'm still full of emotion.
"Back when I was still a little girl, we have so many little dreams
together. We made a vow to never be apart till the end of time.
Obviously, the time changed. I've realized that promises can be broken.
So from now on, no more promises. No more promises that we can't
keep. Only an agreement that no matter what, we will always help each
other in raising our boys.
She continued, "We'll show them the true meaning of love regardless of the
situation that we've been through. That there's still a happy ending
when they do decide to find the one they'll love. That even if
sometimes, there are troubles and complication that will come their
way.
"They will unconditionally love and respect their partner even in
those times that are impossible.
"That little girl has found a way to turn into a woman and I thank
you for the two best gifts that I will value and adore forever. And
this time, I totally say without any fear...forever.
"Thank you also for finally seeing what I'm worth. I used to pray
all the time that one day, you'll see that real person in me. And I now
thank you that you appreciate me for who I am.
"I promise to be your friend and that is an agreement. I am here to
listen and try to understand you and help you. And I do wish you'll
find your joy and inner peace and when you do, you just got to hold on
to it.
"And no matter what and whoever you will be, I will always care for you and I love you."
