Velvet Channel gathered celebrities for its photo exhibit called "Tribute to the Oscars" last Friday, February 20, at the Ayala Museum, Makati City.

Metro Manila Film Festival 2008 Best Actress Anne Curtis
impersonated Nicole Kidman's Satine character in Moulin Rouge. This Hollywood
film won the Best Art Direction in 2002.

Christian Bautista portrayed the hero in Edward Scissorhands, winning the Silver award in Velvet's photo exhibit called "Tribute to the Oscars."
The singer-actor said that it took almost a whole day to
finish this photo entry. Despite the hard work, Christian enjoyed this project because "I'm really a big fan of Johnny
Depp [who played Edward]."

Kjwan band member Marc Abaya impersonated the most hated
Batman villain, The Joker. The
character he imitated for the shoot, however, was not the one portrayed by
the late Hollywood actor, Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight 2008), but the Joker played by Academy Award winner Jack Nicholson in Batman (1989).

Spectators at the "Tribute to the Oscars" exhibit
hardly noticed actor Diether Ocampo in this photo featuring Don Vito Corleone
of The Godfather (1972), which won Velvet's Gold award. The movie won three
Oscars: Best Actor (Marlon Brando), Best Picture and Best Writing.

The all-male group Coverboys teamed up to reflect the disheveled, grimy
soldiers in the war movie Platoon, which bagged four Academy Awards in 1986: Best Picture, Best Director (Oliver Stone), Best Editing and
Best Sound. Shown in the photo

Singer-actress Karylle transforms into Georgina Spencer, the
Duchess of Devonshire, who was portrayed by Hollywood
actress Kiera Knightley in the 2008 movie The Duchess.
This particular photo won the Bronze award in Velvet's
"Tribute to the Oscars" last Friday, February 20, at the Ayala
Museum in Makati City. Unfortunately, Karylle was not able to attend
the event because she was part of Gary Valenciano's repeat anniversary concert
held also during that night.

In the main photo, Pinky Tobiano of breast cancer foundation Pinky Cares, and
the lady behind the inspirational albums called H.O.P.E. (Healing of Pain and
Enlightenment) portrays Cleopatra, the Hellenistic ruler of Egypt. This portrait was given the People's
Choice award last Friday, February 20, during Velvet's "Tribute to Oscars.
The movie Cleopatra in 1963 won four Oscars-Best Art
Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and Best Effect.

character of Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow
in the movie Shakespeare in Love (1998).
This movie bagged seven Academy Awards including major
