Yeng Constantino (left) and Bugoy Drilon were some of the recipients of this year's WAKI OPM Awards. The female singer received the Album of the Year award while Bugoy was chosen as the Male Vocalist of 2008. Both Bugoy and Yeng are products of ABS-CBN's reality talent search Pinoy Dream Academy.

Bossa nova singer Sitti serenaded the crowd with her soothing voice.

Bugoy Drilon performed his revival of Paano na Kaya, the same song that earned for him the Senti Hit Award in the first WAKI OPM Awards.

Bugoy won two awards that night: the Senti Hit of the Year (for "Paano Na Kaya") and Male Vocalist of 2008. He jumped up and down for joy after giving his acceptance speech onstage.

Erik Santos gratefully accepted the Listener's Choice Award (Male).The female counterpart was Bea Alonzo but she was unable to accept the award personally.

Erik Santos gave a heartfelt performance of "May Bukas Pa," the theme song of the ABS-CBN TV series starring the miracle boy Santino.

Gary V humbly accepted the Performer of the Year award during the 101.9 For Life WAKI OPM Awards.

Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano not only showcased his musical skills but also his talent in playing the drums.

The crowd sang along with 6cyclemind vocalist Ney Dimaculangan during their intermission number.

Yeng Constantino bested three other OPM bands and won the Album of the Year award for her record Journey.

Fans of Pinoy Dream Academy grand scholar Yeng Constantino were ecstatic when she went near the crowd. 

The wacky band Itchyworms was named the Band of the Year in the awarding ceremony organized by the FM radio station 101.9 For Life.

Toni Gonzaga presented an award with 101.9 For Life DJ Ric Rider.

Yeng Constantino's album, Journey, was able to beat Sandwich's S Marks the Spot, Itchyworms' self-titled album, and Moonstar 88's Todo-Combo for the category Best Album of the Year.

Audiences watched the four-hour program at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia. Even though rain poured outside of the venue, people didn't mind as long as they got to see their favorite stars in person.

Radio jocks Leila, Billie and Toni helped Pooh host the event that aims to honor the creativity and originality of the Filipino artists in the music industry.
