Behind their reputation as serious
professionals in their respective careers, Marian Rivera and
Manny Pacquiao are known to close friends and intimates as funny and
unassuming.
Reigning Pound-for-Pound King Manny
Pacquiao stars in his first comedy sitcom. The boxing champion promises to
knock out viewers with his comedic timing and punchlines.
Ex-Philippine
Basketball Association (PBA) player Benjie Paras makes his return in the sitcom
genre. The former Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year awardee appeared
alongside Richard Gomez, Joey Marquez and Raymart Santiago in the now defunct
sitcom, Lagot Ka, Isusumbong Kita.
Before Manny
Pacquiao captured people's admiration both here and internationally, there was
Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco Jr. Onyok made the entire country proud when he bagged
the gold medal in the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, Japan. Onyok went
on to win the silver medal in the 1996 Olympics staged in Atlanta, USA. Both
medals were under the boxing Light Flyweight division.
Just like
Manny, Onyok's ring success paved the way for him to venture into show
business. Onyok's showbiz career, however, turned out to be short-lived, as well
as his professional boxing career.
Novelty singer-songwriter
Lito Camo joins his good friend Manny in the sitcom. Lito—who gained both recognition
and bitter criticism for his catchy "pang-masa" compositions—has found a new
career as one of Manny's close associates.
Ever busy John Lapus adds
Show Me Da Manny in his busy
itinerary. In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), John
boasted the show's appeal by saying proudly that the sitcom is composed of
seasoned comedians.
