Before Manny
Pacquiao captured people's admiration both here and internationally, there was
Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco Jr. Onyok made the entire country proud when he bagged
the gold medal in the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, Japan. Onyok went
on to win the silver medal in the 1996 Olympics staged in Atlanta, USA. Both
medals were under the boxing Light Flyweight division.
Just like
Manny, Onyok's ring success paved the way for him to venture into show
business. Onyok's showbiz career, however, turned out to be short-lived, as well
as his professional boxing career.
