Charice and Arnel Pineda opened the awards night with their powerful vocals.

The cast of Eat Bulaga, led by pioneers (from left) Tito Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Vic Sotto, came in full force to receive the Hall of Fame award for the longest-running noontime show.

Vice President Noli Castro graciously received his Excellence in Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement award that night. In his speech, he recalled winning his first Star Award for Best Male Newscaster 22 years ago and reiterated the importance of media in the light of the Maguindanao massacre.

Star Magic prime talents Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz, acknowledged the Lifetime Achievement Award conferred to their mentor, Johnny Manahan, fondly called Mr. M.

Vina Morales left GMA-7's SOP in 1999 and has been a mainstay of ABS-CBN's ASAP since then.

Shaina Magdayao had an energetic production number with the Gigger Boys that night. 

Rayver Cruz (middle) is one of the mainstays of ABS-CBN's Sunday variety show ASAP. Incidentally, this show was adjudged as the Best Musical Variety Show.

Piolo Pascual shared hosting duties with SiS host Carmina Villaroel that night.

One of the hosts during the awards night, Alex Gonzaga (in photo), accepted the award for Best Female Showbiz-Oriented Show Host in behalf of her sister Toni Gonzaga.

Dr. Vicki Belo (right) presented the trophies for the chosen Stars of the Night: Piolo Pascual (Male) and Anne Curtis (Female). The Belo Medical Group sponsored the said award. 

John Lloyd Cruz (Male) and Sunshine Dizon (Female) were chosen as the Faces of the Night.

Ms. Gina Pareño was named Best Drama Actress for her memorable role as Lola Gets in Tayong Dalawa. The said teleserye aired for nine months on ABS-CBN.

It was the first time that Coco Martin was nominated for a role on television and fortunately, he won as Best Drama Actor for Tayong Dalawa. He was able to beat Gerald Anderson (Your Song Presents: My Only Hope), Christopher De Leon (Kahit Isang Saglit), Baron Geisler (SRO Cinemaserye Presents: Suspetsa), Albert Martinez (May Bukas Pa), Diether Ocampo (Iisa Pa Lamang) at Jericho Rosales (Kahit Isang Saglit).

The Best Single Performance by an Actress went to Gretchen Barretto for the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode "Salamin," where she portrayed the mistress of a mayor. She tied with GMA-7's Sunshine Dizon.

Tonyboy Cojuangco and Dominique, Gretchen Barretto's daughter, were present at the Pagcor Theater to show their support.

Wowowee co-host Valerie Concepcion was named Best Female TV Host this year. In the 22nd edition of the Star Awards, she was named Best Female Variety Show Host, also for Wowowee.

Luis Manzano gave a witty speech as he received his award as Best Male TV Host for ASAP.

Luis was seated beside his good friend Anne Curtis, whom he affectionately calls Nippy.

Zaijian Jaranilla was named as the Best New Male TV Personality for the TV show May Bukas Pa, which airs weeknights on ABS-CBN.

Ryan Agoncillo showed that he can excel both in drama and in hosting. He bagged the Best Daytime Drama Series award for the ABS-CBN show Pieta and the Best Talent Search Program Host award for the TV5 show Talentadong Pinoy. Incidentally, the Best Talent Search Program trophy also went to Talentadong Pinoy.

Rufa Mae Quinto received the Best Comedy Actress award for her funny sketches on Bubble Gang.

The Best Male Showbiz-Oriented Show Host trophy went to Boy Abunda for the program SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon of ABS-CBN. SNN also won in the Best Showbiz-Oriented Show category.

Banana Split stars (from left) Angelica Panganiban, Pooh and Jayson Gainza shared the Best Gag Show award with Bubble Gang (GMA-7).

Pooh was hailed as Best Comedy Actor for the ABS-CBN comedy show Banana Split.

Janice de Belen was named the Best Celebrity Talk Show Host for her show Net 25 show Spoon. Incidentally, she is also part of the GMA-7 morning show SiS, which won as the Best Celebrity Talk Show.

Vicky Morales (Saksi, GMA-7) was chosen as the Best Female Newscaster.

Julius Babao, one of the main anchors of ABS-CBN's TV Patrol World, was chosen as the Best Male Newscaster.

Paolo Bediones was chosen by the PMPC as the Best Reality Program Host for the TV series Survivor Philippines (GMA-7). A few days after the awards night, on December 3, Paolo revealed that he has signed up with TV5 as an exclusive talent of the TV network.

Ginger Conejero and Kim Atienza served as the representatives of the morning show Umagang kay Ganda, which is hailed as having the Best Morning Show Hosts. The said ABS-CBN show also won as the Best Morning Show according to the PMPC.

Kim Atienza was doubly happy as he received the Best Educational Program award for Matanglawin on ABS-CBN.

Tim Yap and Sam Oh (not in photo) won as Best Lifestyle Show Hosts for Events Incorporated, the Q Channel 11 that also won as Best Lifestyle Show.

Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. received an award for being the Best Educational Program Host for the GMA-7 program Kap's Amazing Stories.

Even though Iya Villania did not win any awards, she got to hold up one of the two trophies that her boyfriend Drew Arellano won that night. He was named the Best Travel Show Host while his show Balik-Bayan on Q Channel 11 was adjudged as the Best Travel Show program.

The cast of Midnight DJ, led by Oyo Sotto (right), went up the stage to receive their award for Best Horror-Fantasy program.

Krystal Reyes and Pia Arcangel gratefully received the Best Children Show trophy for Art Angel (GMA-7) and for being the Best Children Show hosts.

Dr. Vicki Belo was spotted at the Pagcor Theater last November 29 seated beside an unidentified guy.

Diether Ocampo and his girlfriend Rima Ostwani held hands for most of the evening.

The Philippine Movie Press Club, Inc. (PMPC) headed by incumbent president, Roldan Castro (middle), expressed his gratitude to all the stars who attended the awards night at the Pagcor Theater.
