On its 5th year, the MYX Music Awards was held at the Music Museum in San Juan City last Tuesday, March 2.
Sarah Geronimo bagged the most number of awards—bringing home the Favorite Media Soundtrack, Favorite Remake, Favorite Female Artist, and Favorite Artist trophies. Last year, she also won in the same categories.
All the performers had exciting numbers, especially, Rico Blanco who surprised everyone that night with his tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson.

The night's exciting performances started with a medley of the nominees for the Favorite Song category. Gigger Boy Sam Concepcion came on stage first to sing Rico Blanco's "Antukin."
2008 MYX VJ Search winners VJ Nel Gomez and VJ Janine Ramirez presented the first award that night, the Favorite International Music Video, which was won by Taylor Swift's "Love Story."
Sarah Geronimo immediately thanked her "Popsters" (her loyal fans) for the text votes which won her the Favorite Media Soundtrack award (for the Sunsilk ad jingle "Record Breaker."
"Bilib na talaga ako sa inyo!" Sarah said, addressing her fans. Sarah went on to win three more awards that night: Favorite Remake ("You Changed My Life"), Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Artist.
Sony-BMG Pilipinas's Roots of Nature received the Favorite MYX Bandarito Performance.
The three-piece band released their debut album in 2008 with their own version of Lea Salonga's "Lipad" (from the Filipino animated movie Dayo) as their carrier single. The band uses ethnic Filipino instruments in their peformances.
Jett Pangan of the legendary 1980s Pinoy Rock band, The Dawn, and Brazilian model turned Philippine TV personality Daiana Menezes presented the Favorite MYX Live Performance award. Jett is the host of MYX Live.
KenJohns (shirtless) with his Philippine Allstars dance crew got the audience raising their hands and swaying to their Favorite Urban Video-nominated song "Mainit."
Gloc9 raised his Favorite Urban Video trophy while thanking his fans and the FMCC for the Francis Magalona shirt he was wearing that night. Gloc9 won for his "Upuan" music video with Jeazelle Grutas of the alternative band Zelle. His "Upuan" director J. Pacena II looked lonely, as if saying "Nasan ang trophy ko? Ba't si Aris [Gloc9] lang?"

Favorite Rock Video presenter, actor Rafael Rosell, was excited to hear Wowowee's Kembot Girls member and his co-presenter Aprilyn Gustilo say her signature cheer, "Congratulations!"
April did say it minutes later to the delight of Rafael and the audience.
