The pageant's biggest winner was Miss Venezuela Ivian Lunasol Sarcos Colmenares (middle).

As a child, she said she had always wanted to become a nun. But she was destined to conquer the world with her beauty.

The biggest surprise was Philippine bet Gwendoline Ruais (left).

For 17 years, not one among our Miss World representatives made it to the top three slots.

The last time we landed a spot was in 1993, when actress Ruffa Gutierrez won as Second Princess.

Third place for this year was bagged by Miss Puerto Rico Amanda Perez (right).

Aside from her 6'1" height, Gwendoline's answer during the question and answer portion earned her plus points:

"To be Miss World is my dream job. And I say job because it is a lot of responsibilities.

"But there is nothing I love more than communicating with other people.

"As Miss World, you get to use your potential and your voice to help people from all around the world, and what is more wonderful than doing what you love by helping others."

Approximately 6,000 people watched the pageant, which also celebrated its 60th anniversary that day.

It was in 1951 when Eric Morley founded Miss World in London.
