STORMS AND SUNSHINE IN JULY. Following her birthday celebrations in the country and Singapore, which were both attended by rumored beau Eduardo Puertas, a man from Ruffa Gutierrez's past resurfaced to give her the "biggest battle of her life."

Her ex-husband Yilmaz Bektas declared that he was going to fight for the custody of his daughters Lorin and Venice.

In his e-mail to GMA News last July 14, he said: "I always gave my money to my children. I would not have offered 2 millions dollars to Ruffa in order to see my children for 1 week. She requested some time and, after talking to her father and mother, she did not accept this proposal...I need my rights to see my children with the law."

Meanwhile, a complaint alleging physical abuse was filed against Maricel Soriano on July 1, by her former househelps May Cachuela and Camille Acojedo, who related the actress's "pagmumura and paninipa."

But the Diamond Star chose to keep mum on the subject.

On the other hand, Heart Evangelista claimed she was "attacked, shouted at, and threatened" by Marian Rivera.

Heart said during her press conference last July 21: "Masama lang po ang loob ko dahil nabaligtad na po ang sitwasyon."

The athletes were not spared from the hullabaloo.

A few days before their July 23 game against Kuwait, Azkals players Neil Etheridge, Simon Greatwich, Jason Sabio, and Anton del Rosario were accused of "raping" a model.

Aside from the stars's glamorous outfits, the sidelights have been attention-grabbing, if not controversial.

This year, the altercation involving Matteo Guidicelli, Maja Salvador, and Coco Martin became the talk of the town.

On September 4, Maja admitted on TV that she was the reason why the two actors had fought; she also revealed that all this time, she and Matteo (left) were already in a relationship.

On September 11, Matteo called the brawl with Coco (right)  a "big, big, big misunderstanding."

This month's biggest surprise was the engagement of TV host-politician Shalani Soledad to Pasig Representative Roman Romulo which was announced barely two weeks after the press had reported that the couple were just dating.

The pluckiest revelation came from Andi Eigenmann, who named Albie Casiño as the father of her child.

The most pleasant victory was Shamcey Supsup's win as third runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant.

The exceptional reward for any proof of Manny Pacquiao's infidelity was offered by his wife Jinkee. "Hermes, gusto niyo?" she quipped during an interview on September 20.

And the most controversial cover was Nora Aunor's smoking photo, which was criticized by the Philippine Medical Association.

The month's sad news: Camille Prats's 31-year-old husband Anthony Linsangan succumbed to nasopharyngeal cancer on September 23.

The Kapuso actress said in tears, "I don't understand why I had to lose him at this very early age."

OCTOBER SECRETS. The untimely death of Ramgen Revilla uncovered more family drama, exposing rivalry among his siblings, financial squabbles, and his strictness as a kuya.

Ramgen is the eldest son of former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. with former starlet Genelyn Magsaysay, and is said to be the favorite.

He was murdered last October 29 at his family's home in Parañaque City.

The secret wedding of Pia Guanio and Steve Mago was revealed when the bride announced it herself on Showbiz Central via phone patch last October 9.

She said, "Because we really wanted to concentrate on the ceremony, on the blessing, and the message from our pastor.

"So, ayaw talaga namin ng any kind of unnecessary distraction which... a big wedding entails."

The secret relationship of Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo was also confirmed last October 13. The couple had been "on" for six months.

According to the platinum singer, she was prevented from singing Adele's "Someone Like You" at the kick-off party of the USTv awards.

Other news: The victory of Gwendoline Ruais in the Miss World pageant, where she finished as first runnerup.

WAR IS NOT OVER THIS DECEMBER. Annabelle Rama found a nemesis in former friend Nadia Montenegro, who slapped her with three complaints: falsification of documents, child abuse, and libel.

The issue became hotter this month after Annabelle lost her cool during the classificatory hearing last December 6.

Her response to Nadia's complaints: "Ito, parang, kumbaga, appetizer ko lang ito.

"Ako ay nag-e-enjoy going to the court almost every day. I'm enjoying doing it."

For her part, the Gutierrez matriarch filed theft and attempted kidnapping against the former actress.

Another ongoing legal battle is between ex-couple Mo Twister and Rhian Ramos.

DJ Mo, in his video diary, tagged Rhian as the lady who allegedly "got rid" of his baby in Singapore last year.

The actress is currently waiting for a protection order to be served after filing Republic Act 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 against the DJ-host.
