"We are part of the history of music," declared
MYX VJ Luis Manzano (leftmost) during the 2nd MYX Music Awards held last March
15 at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Theater in Camp Aguinaldo. MYX VJs (L-R)
Luis, Nikki Gil, Geoff Eigenmann, and Iya Villania hosted the awards night,
which had a total of nineteen categories. The nominees were selected from all
the music videos aired on MYX from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2006.
Singing champions Erik Santos (leftmost) and Christian

and Rufa were the presenters for the Favorite Mellow Video Award, which went to
Christian Bautista. Both Erik and Christian took home three trophies from the
2nd MYX Music Awards.
Yeng Constantino (left) and Mau Marcelo shared
the same stage and the same podium for the first time during the second MYX
Music Awards. The first Philippine Idol even told Pinoy Dream Academy's
Grand Star Dreamer: "Nice to meet you." The two singing champions presented the
Favorite Group Award to Sponge Cola.

before presenting the award for Favorite Celebrity VJ. According to Luis, "To
be a VJ, it's a natural thing. No effort should be put into doing what a VJ
does. That is why I am really scared. I am going to lose my job." In the end,
the Celebrity VJ Award went to Michael V.
Sponge Cola, composed of (L-R) Reynaldo Dilay, Ysmael Yuzon, Christopher Cantada, and
Erwin Armovit bagged four awards out of their six nominations during the second MYX Music Awards.
The Favorite Urban Video Award was presented by Jay of Kamikazee and Aubrey Miles. Rock fans were thrilled to see Jay get lucky that night when he boldly put his arm around the sexy star and give her a peck on the cheek. An ecstatic Jay shouted: "Ako pa rin ang nanalo!"
Erik Santos and Rufa Mae Quinto kissed each other onstage in response to the chanting of the crowd. When Erik won the Favorite Remake Award, Rufa did an ad-lib and said: "I'd like to dedicate my VJ...VJ...basta yung pag-V-VJ ko kay Erik."
Two VJs from MYX North America came to the country to present the Favorite International Music Video Award. Malaya (pronounced Ma-le-ya) Lewandowski hosts OMG, which is similar to the local show Take 5, while Beau Canlas is the host of the MYX North America's The Hood, which is
similar to the local show Urban Myx.
Rico Blanco of Rivermaya performed for the 2nd MYX Music Awards. Ang Banda ng Bayan's single "Isang Bandila" was nominated
for the category Favorite Media Soundtrack, since it was used in ABS-CBN's
current affairs program Bandila. However, the MYX Music award was
given to True Faith for the song "Dahil Ikaw," which was used in the
ABS-CBN telenovela Sa Piling Mo.
Ely Buendia (second from left) and Pupil was introduced to the crowd as one of the most influential artists of our generation. Ely's wife, Diane Ventura (not pictured), made heads turn with her fiery red hair and sexy outfit that night.
Christian Bautista had much to be happy about that night because of his triple win: Favorite MYX Live Performance, Favorite Mellow Video, and Favorite Music Video for "Invincible." When he accepted the Live Performance Award from Francine Prieto and Jett Pangan (partly hidden), he urged the crowd: "Saktong-sakto, please get my live album."
The MYX Music Awards started at 9:15 p.m.
and ended shortly before midnight. The MYX VJs including (L-R) Luis Manzano,
Nikki Gil, Karel Marquez, Geoff Eigenmann, and Iya Villania proceeded to
Metrowalk for their after-party.
Rachelle Ann Go and Christian Bautista were all
smiles after the 2nd MYX Music Awards. Rachelle, who was named Favorite Female
Artist that night, referred to her singer-boyfriend as her "lucky charm."
