Germany's Metropolis kicks off the filmfest on August 24, 7pm.

Tycoon Johann Fredersen runs the Metropolis, the "city of the future" where workers labor beneath the earth and the privileged reside in high-rise buildings. Conflict arises when his son Frederik falls in love with Maria, a worker from the underworld.

Rubber Inc., the pioneer of live dance music in the country, brings Metropolis to life.

The Spanish romantic comedy La Casa de la Troya screens on August 25, 3pm.

Fernando, who wants to get his life back on track and maybe even earn a law degree, meets Galician girl Carmen in a student dormitory called La Casa de la Troya. He eventually falls in love with her despite her aunt's objections.

Popular OPM band Sinosikat?, accompanied by Ignacio Plaza, provides musical pleasure to this cinematic masterpiece.

I Was Born, But... from Japan is screening on August 25, 7pm.

This movie follows the story of Ryoichi, who realizes that his father wasn't the admirable and great man he thought he was. His father, in turn, reflects on his son's rage and dismay, and deals with his own personal frustration and despair.

Reggae sounds from Tropical Depression provide the perfect musical complement to this noteworthy film.

Italy's La Signora delle Camelie is to be shown on August 26, 4pm.

This silent film chronicles the tragic love story of courtesan Marguerite Gautier and provincial bourgeois Armand Duval. Armand's father disapproves of the relationship and convinces Marguerite to leave Armand, then makes Armand believe that she has left him for another man.

Improvisation-based instrumental trio, Garlic, heightens the film's emotional core with its in-the-moment musical pieces.

On August 26, 7pm is Filipino film Eternity.

Directed by Raymond Red, this one tells the story of a man trapped in a recurrent nightmare of bad dreams, interviews for a post, and rejection.

Eternity is followed by Pelikula, a short yet sharp 5-minute visual offering, also by Red.

Composer Diwa de Leon, the violinist and founder of the Makiling Ensemble, lends his original compositions to accompany the film.

Safety Last, one of the great film comedies from the newly featured country USA, screens on August 27, 7pm.

The film revolves around the funny misadventures of a store clerk who, after organizing a contest to climb the outside of a tall building, is forced by circumstances to make the perilous climb himself.

Popular eight-piece ensemble Radioactive Sago Project provides this picture with its acclaimed fusion of musical offerings.
