"I am 34 years old. Feeling ko I need to celebrate, parang thanksgiving na rin. Pumatak sa 7-7-07 [July 7, 2007 ang birthday ko]! I'm 34, three plus four is seven, tapos I am now with Channel 7! So parang there's so many things to celebrate," said John "Sweet" Lapus.

The cake's design was inspired by Sweet's birthday concert, "Sweet Dreams."

John described the concert; "Masaya kasi sabi ko nga for the past five years nagbi-birthday show ako, [‘yon iyong] one, if not the, best show that I ever did kasi malinis ‘yong flow. First time akong i-direct ng friend kong si Philip Lazaro and lahat ng guest they performed... Talagang sinadya ko talaga na separate day ang aking birthday party for my family, my friends, my relatives, my close friends from show business. ‘Yong kahapon talaga for my fans. Sinadya ko talaga na I celebrate the exact date of my birthday with them."

"Sweet, happy birthday! Sana marami ka pang taong mapaligaya, matulungan, marami ka pang taong ma-inspire. I wish you good health and more success in work!" greeted Luis Alandy. He currently stars in GMA-7's Impostora.

Aisa Marquez photographed jamming with the house band. She became friends with Sweet through Showbiz Central. Sweet was the one who interviewed Aisa about her eviction from her rented house. Aisa said, "Sana hindi niya makalimutan na after our interview na doon kami nagkaroon ng communication. Sana hindi siya magbago sa akin at sa lahat ng tao na sumusuporta sa kaniya."

Paolo gave a message to Sweet: "Happy Birthday Sweet! Sana maging sweet ka pa forever. Actually Sweet is a good friend and I wish him all the love. I think he has everything na, friends, family... So kung ano man ang wini-wish niya, sana makuha niya."

Candies and Sweets. "Sweet, happy happy birthday! Alam mo naman na mahal na mahal kita! Si Sweet talagang sweet siya as a person. Akala mo lang wala ‘yang pagmamahal sa kaibigan pero grabe ‘yan magmahal. Basa ko na si Sweet, e. Alam ko na kung kailan niya gustong chumika," said Candy about the birthday boy.

"I just want to be happy. Admittedly, there are times na bigla na lang akong nalulungkot. I really don't know why," said Sweet about his birthday wish.

"Hey heypi birthday!" greeted Eugene Domingo when she saw Sweet. The greeting is one of the most memorable lines from the movie Paano Kita Iibigin, which Eugene starred in. She said, "Sana talagang maging health conscious na siya [Sweet] kasi masipag na siyang mag-gym. Tsaka pag naggi-gym siya, hindi na siya masyadong nalulungkot."

The other lady in the picture is Stella Cañete, a theater actress.

Beth Tamayo and her businessman husband Johnny Wong arrived at the party, riding their yellow Lamborghini.

ABS-CBN executive Deo Endrinal made a quick stop at John's birthday to greet and give the Universal Sweet a present.

"Kilala ko na ‘yan since 15 or 16 years old kasi lower batch ko siya sa Teatro Tomasino," revealed Direk Wenn Deramas. "So nakita ko siya from the day na dine-deny pa niyang bakla siya hangang sa umamin at lahat lahat na. Natutuwa ako sa lahat ng nangyari sa kaniya. Natutuwa ako sa kinalalagyan niya ngayon."

Direk Joyce Bernal is one of the early birds of the party. She gamely posed for the cameras with the birthday celebrator.
