Ogie's 40th birthday party—held at the Manila Polo Club in Makati last August 27—turned into a night of gowns galore, suit show, and couple-spotting!

The Songwriter and the Songbird. Finally, they could hug each
other in public. Remember that New Year’s eve when they were caught hugging each other onstage by a news crew of GMA-7? The two then denied that there was
something special going on between them. But now, Ogie publicly refers to Regine as
“my love.” They both looked very happy that night.
Here comes the
birthday boy! Ogie’s original plan was to have a 1980s-inspired party. “Yun
kasi ang kinalakihan ko,” he said in an interview with Chika Minute. His ladylove Regine Velasquez suggested “Prom Night,”
and obviously, it was the Songbird’s idea that won out.
When Ogie arrived at the Manila Polo Club, Showbiz Central host Raymond Gutierrez
was waiting right at the entrance. Raymond fired away his questions about the
event, and of course, about Ogie’s queen.
Good looks, good
genes. Heads turned when GMA-7’s biggest male star Richard
Gutierrez arrived, gracing the red carpet on the heels of his dad Eddie
Gutierrez. Richard was fashionably dressed in a gray suit.
Ravishing in Red. If she’s your prom date, call yourself super lucky!
Rufa Mae Quinto in a sideswept ‘do and red mermaid style
gown with a lacy neckline showing off her ample assets. The dazzling smile that
went with the outfit was great plus!
But this prom siren did not bring a date. She’s loveless,
but happy.
Pretty in print. Francine Prieto was effortlessly elegant in her
champagne-colored dress, which had floral patterns for accent. The orange
ribbon was an interesting twist. In an interview, she mentioned her desire to
lose weight; the camera didn’t agree with the sexy comedienne’s idea.
Beautiful Buddies. The alluring Diana Zubiri—in a pink gown—had Wendell Ramos
as her escort. The two are co-stars in the longest running gag show Bubble Gang.
The Pink Glow. Sergio was not with Marimar. GMA-7's Next Big Star Marian Rivera arrived with GMA-7’s favorite leading man Dennis Trillo. They wore color-coordinated outfits—the guy in a pink polo
inside his black blazer and the lady in a predominantly pink dress. Why they
were together that night? Let’s ask their manager Popoy Caritativo.
Prom Prince and
Princess. Mark Herras in black, and Ryza Cenon in a chiffon dress. These two
have a lot in common. They’re both winners of StarStruck. They’re dubbed as Bad Boy and Bad Girl of the Dance
Floor. Together, they make a "fantastic" pair!
Celebrity Duets Duos. Dr. Hayden Kho (left), the man in Dr. Vicki Belo’s life, and
eventologist Tim Yap. Hayden went for a conventional prom garb, while Tim
favored something extraordinaire—a flashy coat and tie. They both pulled it
off!
The Perfect Pair. The Adonis of Philippine Movies Richard Gomez with his
gorgeous wife Lucy Torres. Richard carried his black suit well, and Lucy looked
regal in her black dress with a catchy Oriental-inspired belt.
Second Chance at Love. Are they back together? Neither Janno Gibbs nor Bing Loyzaga
confirmed it. But their relationship must be more than okay because before they
posed as Prom King and Queen, they were seen holding hands.
Hard Court Meets the
Concert Stage. Kyla’s fresh beauty came out naturally with her empire-cut
copper dress and upswept ‘do. Her boyfriend, cager Rich Alvarez, wore sparkling
long sleeves inside his blazer to match Kyla’s glowing aura.
Bagets King and Queen. Yayo Aguila could have bagged Prom Queen crown when she was
16, but that was the age she married William Martinez. Twenty five years later,
they’re still very much together. “It just never occurred to me to leave him,” said Yayo in a
magazine interview.
Sports marries Showbiz. Chris Tan and Sherilyn Reyes
in their dressy outfits—a suit accentuated by black-and-white striped long
sleeves for Chris, and a top-beaded dress for Sherilyn.
They look good together. They
are good to each other. "The husband that I have now is really
heaven-sent," said the TV comedienne about her husband.
The Cool Couple. Tessa Prieto-Valdes, known
for her flamboyant outfits, arrived in her rose-themed gown that caught the
attention of the guests. Her husband Dennis Valdes came in jeans, which gave him this boyishly rugged look! Unorthodox and striking couple!
The Songbird and the Dog. Regine Velasquez was a most
gracious host that night. She was assisted by George, her dog “full of hair.”
The latter was a birthday gift from Jaya, Regine’s co-host on SOP and close friend.
Gary V and his new title. Gary Valenciano ditched his Mr. Pure Energy title in
favor of Prom King? He looked so intent and serious as he was photographed with
his sash and crown.
Concert King or Prom King? If Gary was looking so serious about his new
title, Martin was hilarious. He goofed around with his crown and made funny
faces.
Prom King? The usherrette asked Rustom
Padilla if he'd like to be crowned as a Prom Queen or Prom King, Rustom chose the latter. But he didn’t
seem too happy with the idea. Or was he just being careful about the crown so
as not to mess his hairdo?
Three’s a crowd. Maureen Larrazabal arrived
with not one but two dates, her Bubble
Gang co-stars Jeremy Marquez (right) and Boy2 Quizon. Maureen was clad in a
plain pink dress, which brought out her sexy body to full advantage.
