GMA-7 launches its new telefantasya, Zaido: PulisPangkalawakan, on September 24. Zaido is based on the highly-popular metal hero series Shaider. Boasting a cast combining youth and experience, the three leads of Zaido are matinee idol Dennis Trillo and StarStruck winners Marky Cielo and Aljur Abrenica.

Zaido is the first-ever Pinoy-made Metal Hero Series. The powerful cast is headed by matinee idol Dennis Trillo (center) and StarStruck winners Marky Cielo (left) and Aljur Abrenica (right). They play the descendants of Shaider, becoming members of Zaido, the highest rank of Pulis Pangkalawakan.
Dennis Trillo plays Gallian, the first one to become a Zaido. He lost his parents during Le-ar's evil conquests and is then adopted by the Galactic Force. This is Dennis's fifth telefantasya on GMA-7; after Mulawin, Darna, Majika, and Super Twins. One of the country's best young actors, Dennis is also in the currently-running soap opera Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap opposite Nadine Samonte.
The first and only StarStruck Ultimate Sole Survivor, Marky Cielo plays Alexis, who comes from a poor family. He witnessed the tragic death of his father, and has since vowed to help destroy evil. He becomes a policeman but is often ridiculed by his corrupt colleagues. Zaido is Marky's third primetime show on the Kapuso network; the first two are Encantadia and Asian Treasures. He is also in the cast of the youth-oriented show Boys Nxt Door.
StarStruck 3 Ultimate Hunk Aljur Abrenica is Cervano, who grew up surrounded by wealth. In spite of being proud, conceited, and short-tempered, he is a winner among the girls for being a champion swimmer. Zaido is the only second regular show of Aljur and his biggest break so far. He is also part of Boys Nxt Door.
Dennis is Blue Zaido, who is actually the head of the Zaido. His task is
to look after other Zaido all over the world who help him fight for the
safety of the universe.
StarStruck 4 winner Kris Bernal plays Amy, a Galactic Force Academy student whose affection will be fought over by Alexis (Marky) and Cervano (Aljur). Kris is also in the cast of Boys Nxt Door.
Sexy actress Diana Zubiri is Carmela, Alvaro's (Raymart Santiago) girlfriend until he disappears, and who later meets and falls in love with Gallian (Dennis). This is the third primetime Kapuso series for Diana after Encantadia and Asian Treasures.
Action star Raymart Santiago returns to primetime TV via Zaido. He plays Alvaro, Alexis's older brother who lives as an outlaw after their father's death so he could provide for the family; later, he is mysteriously kidnapped by unidentified men. His first primetime series in GMA-7 was Narito ang Puso Ko opposite Jolina Magdangal.
Grandslam best-actress winner Lorna Tolentino makes a special guest appearance as Helen, the loving mother of Alvaro, Alexis, and Oggy. She protects a dark secret involving one of her sons that would change the destiny of the Zaido. Lorna is one of the hosts of the Saturday showbiz talk show Startalk.
Fresh from playing the lead villain in Lupin, seasoned actor Tirso Cruz III plays another anti-hero role in Zaido. He is Ramiro, who serves as the new head of the family after the death of Alexis's father. Yet, beneath his kind actions lurks an untrustworthy character.
Karel Marquez plays Lyka, Commander Zion's (Ian de Leon) daughter who teaches in the Galactic Force Academy and assistant to Gallian (Dennis), with whom she shares a forbidden relationship. This is the second regular show of Karel in the Kapuso network, after the afternoon soap Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso.
Lovi Poe is Mona, the news writer who is Alexis's childhood friend and who is secretly in love with him. Prior to Zaido, Lovi played Krystal in the hit primetime soap Bakekang.
StarStruck 1 Avenger Dion Ignacio plays Thor, Alexis's cousin and colleague in the police force who does nothing but make his cousin's life miserable. Thor pursues Alvaro's girlfriend Carmela (Diana) after Alvaro disappears.
Ian de Leon plays Commander Zion, the head of the Galactic Force who will intensively train the three Zaido—Gallian, Alexis, and Cervano—to become the ultimate Zaidos. Zaido is the follow-up telefantasya of Ian after Super Twins. Ian is the son Superstar Nora Aunor and Drama King Christopher de Leon.
Paolo Ballesteros plays the transvestite Ida, grandson and adviser of Le-ar and high priest of the Kuuma, who is hailed as the most beautiful being in the universe but whose soul is rotting underneath his flawless appearance.
Paolo said he had no qualms accepting the role of a transvestite despite persistent rumors about his sexuality. He said that he treats his role as a job and he is thankful to GMA-7 for giving him a regular show.
Iwa Moto (left) is Amasonang Itim, leader of the amasonas and an expert in blades. LJ Reyes (right) is Amasonang Lila, the fastest among the group and whose weapon is kali. Both Iwa and LJ placed second when they joined StarStruck.
(From left) Arci Muñoz is Amasonang Puti, the conscience of the amasonas; Melissa Avelino is Amasonang Rosas, the strongest and a martial-arts expert; and Vaness del Moral is Amasonang Kahel, who is the most agile in the group and is a sharp-shooter.
Le-ar is the mortal enemy of Shaider. The lord of the Kuumas, he brings endless suffering to all whom he conquers. He is the only one who can open the Time Space Warp, where the Kuumas gain strength against the Zaidos.
