Jericho Rosales and Heart Evangelista, according to PAWS, are perfect for the "See
Beauty Beyond Breed" campaign. They both love animals and are deeply
affected by news about animal cruelty.
Heart says that she's been a dog-lover ever
since she was a kid. "I
grew up with German Shepherds, so I was basically crawling with them. They're my
playmates and stuff. That's why I developed this love for dogs. No, I don't
think it's just that...I think they're adorable creatures."
Here, Heart is hugging Brian, one of the native dogs under the care of PAWS Animal Shelter.
Actor-singer Jericho Rosales confessed to PAWS, "Pinaglihi
talaga ako sa pusa, kaya ako mahilig sa pusa." In fact, he said he owns a cat
right now. "Mataba siyang malaki. Belgian cat. Silver. Male. Kamukha niya yung
sa Tom and Jerry," described Jericho.
In this picture, Jericho posed with Marie, one of the cats rescued by PAWS Animal Shelter.
Heart on animal cruelty: "Sometimes the tendency is, when you see
a dog being grabbed by its ear, you can't just say [sweetly] ‘Don't do that.'
It's like, ‘Why are you doing that?!' It's hard, it's hard. But I really will
go up to people. I can't take it."
Echo, popular nickname of Jericho, posed here with Twister,
another native cat staying at the PAWS Animal Shelter.
Echo said that he used to bring home stray cats whenever he
found one. "Dati
Heart, who visited PAWS Animal Shelter once, said that
she also has an askal (asong kalye or native dog). "I have an askal back home, with my dad and my mom.
Ever since...before kasi our shih tzu, nabuntis siya ng askal [kaya] we had a few askal
puppies."
She can't stand the fact that people maltreat native dogs and cats, "Sometimes, people can get judgmental. Porke't askal lang, di ba? There
are a lot of people making reklamo that askals are violent, nangangagat.
They're just nangangagat because they're not treated well."
