Fifteen years after entering the world of showbiz, John "Sweet" Lapus's energy onstage remains hard to match.

One of the most applauded portions was Sweet's impersonation of his good friend Kris Aquino.

Sweetilicious was held last May 31 at the Music Museum.

From behind the audience Sweet kicks in dramatically, wearing a fabulous red gown.

The opening number is dubbed "Buwis Buhay" dance number. Why the title? Go figure.

The Universal Sweet shows his dancing prowess with a medley of dance hits—Beyonce's "Crazy In Love," Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie," Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop The Music."

During the second song, John sheds off his red outfit to reveal this golden gown.

But it's the third costume change that elicits "Whoa!" from the audience.

John gives his all and performs awesome stunts that send the crowd agape!

The moves that showcase Sweet's superb dancing skills.

"Concept ko ito. Huwag nang umangal. Gusto ko lang mag-bike lang nang mag-bike. Isang oras ito. Magba-bike lang ako hanggang sa matapos ang show...hanggang sa mahilo kayo," said the Showbiz Central host. "Ang kaso, ako yata ang unang nahihilo."

"Fifteen years," John says while counting on his fingers. He is grateful that he has lasted that long and reached far in the business. "Considering na bakla ako," fifteen years is really something!"

The UST Hotel and Restaurant Management alumnus is proud that he has 27 movies in his filmography. "Merong indie, may digital, commercial, meron ding wala lang."

Sweet revealed that his top fave movie is Sharon Cuneta's Bituing Walang Ningning, so he paid tribute to the film by reciting the famous line of Cherie Gil's character, Laviña. The catch: He mimicked the delivery styles of Zsa Zsa Padilla, Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Jaclyn Jose, to name a few, in saying, "You're nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat." It was hilarious!

To recount his early years as a stand-up comedian, Sweet asks this shy guy to come up on stage.

"Saan ka nagtatrabaho?" asks John.

The 27-year-old spectator answers, "Sa government."

"Corrupt!" says the Showbiz Central host in jest.

Sweet's energy is so contagious, shy guy eventually loosens up.

The first movie which billed him as "Sweet" was Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw, starring Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez.

John sings his version of the film's theme song.

Sweet is also Videoke Queen! Here, he performs "Salamat," a single popularized by his look-alike Jet Pangan.

While singing the song with feeling, Jay-R suddenly shows up.

"Nakakahiya, andiyan pala si Jay-R," exclaims Sweet after finishing his song.

The Prince of RnB takes over the videoke and renders his version of Ne-yo's "So Sick," and his own hit, "Bakit Pa Ba?"

One of the highlights of the show is the adaptation of "Don't Lie To Me," John's popular segment in Showbiz Central.

It's Sweet's "comeuppance" on the hot seat while Janno Gibbs takes the mic as interrogator.

While the lie detector apparatus is being set up, The King of Soul serenades the crowd with "Fallin'," one of his popular singles.

One of the controversial questions: "Sumama ba ang loob mo sa dati mong istasyon dahil natengga ka noon ng almost a year?"

"No," John answers.

But the lie-detector machine says otherwise, and so, just as John does whenever the inspector raises the "Lie" board in Showbiz Central, Janno dances the segment's signature piece, "Shake It Sweet!"

The minute Dingdong comes into view, the girls and gays let out a loud scream! The matinee idol of GMA-7 sings a medley of Eraserheads songs.

People ready their cell phone cameras when the GMA-7 heartthrob leaves the stage and approaches the excited crowd.

"Fredo! Fredo! Si Dyosabel ito."

The walking mermaid goes near Dingdong, but he brushes her off, "Hindi ako si Fredo."

Dyosabel uses her magical croaking voice to hypnotize Dingdong.

It works!

Dyosabel: Maganda ba 'ko?

Dingdong (sounding like a robot): Oo.

Dyosabel: Kiss mo nga ako.

(Pause) Dingdong: Niloloko mo na ako.

The crowd roars with laughter.

If Fredo sings, Dyosabel can have her legs back. The Dyesebel leading man performs Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby."

The magic works again! But upon seeing Dyosabel with her legs, Fredo flees.

To celebrate Sweet's 15 years, it rained 15 hunks at the Music Museum.

John showcases his versatility by performing "Low," Florida's hip-hop song!

Wow! Sweet can do that famous hip-hop move!

After his number, "Bakit hindi kayo naghubad? Kaya ko nga kayo kinuha, e. Ako ang producer dito, hindi ko kayo babayaran."

No movement whatsoever from the guys.

A few seconds after the comedian leaves the stage, the models take off their pants!

Presenting the Universal Sweet men and their well-toned bodies!

Not only that...They also mingle with the girls, guys, and gays in the audience and distribute Sweet lollipops.

He's a host, writer, dancer, stand-up comedian, singer, an actor on stage and film—what else can he do?

John is also an impersonator. He ably mimics Sheryl Cruz and, of course, Kris Aquino.

From the TV host-actress' game show to her massacre and horror movies, plus her signature laugh and famous lines—the "Kris Anino" portion of Sweetilicious is highly entertaining and the most applauded.

 

Raymond Gutierrez, John's co-host in Showbiz Central, watches the show with Bubbles Paraiso.

Says Sweet, "Alam mo ba, Raymond, nag-audition din ang mommy mo sa Bituing Walang Ningning?

"Ladies and gentlemen, Ms. Annabelle Rama.

"You're nothing...Trying hard ka dong! Copycat ka!" John's dashing co-host laughs.

DJ Durano, who worked with John in several movie projects, is spotted with the group of Sweet's friend Direk Wenn Deramas.

Drs. Manny and Pie Calayan show support for Sweet. Aside from lending their presence, Calayan Surgicentre is one of the sponsors.

Sweet acknowledged comedienne Ms. Tessie Tomas, who came with British husband Roger Fullin.

For his final number, Sweet sings Guy Sebastian's "Angels Brought Me Here." His gown is simply stunning.

While doing his "birit" number, the screen shows the photos of Sweet in his yesteryears.

The show sums up the highs and lows, the ups and downs of John "Sweet" Lapus's 15 years in showbiz.

With the gains and pains, the experience is "Sweetilicious!"

A round of applause and confetti shower signal the end of the show. The mood is celebratory, everyone's happy—a fitting finale for showbiz's Sweet Diva.
