"May mga tao nga diyan, patapos pa lang 'yong taping nung TV show nila, they're taping already for the next show. That's never happened to me," Bianca King told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), dismissing accusations that she is a favorite of GMA-7 when it comes to projects.

Bianca King simply finds the accusation that she is one of GMA-7's favorite talents as baseless and untrue.

"I wouldn't say na favorite ako ng network kasi five months din ako nawalan ng show," Bianca candidly told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last night, March 16, at the press conference of Zorro held at Studio 7 of the GMA Network Studios in Quezon City.

Some quarters recently accused the Kapuso network of playing favorites with some of its stars by consistently casting them in its line-up of shows.

"Actually 'yong lull, like the waiting period in between the shows is usually about five to six months, like from Marimar to Dyesebel to Zorro, there's always like a minimum of four months in between, so hindi talaga masasabing laging may show," she reasoned out.

Like most actors, Bianca explained that she, too, frequently goes through phases of anxiety while waiting for an offer to come her way.

"May mga tao nga diyan patapos pa lang 'yong taping nung TV show nila, they're taping already for the next show. That's never happened to me. That's why financially, it's kind of a strain. Kasi siyempre, habang you're not working, 'yong naipon mo nadi-drain nang nadi-drain."

PLAYING NON-CONTRAVIDA. Bianca is part of GMA-7's new primetime series, Zorro, where she plays the character Cara.

"For me it's a challenge because it's my first really big non-contravida role. So I have to put a lot more thought into delivering my lines, on how I project my face, my eyes, my voice."

Being used to playing villain roles, shifting to a likeable character, according to Bianca, is a challenge in itself.

She explained, "Kasi sometimes it has become automatic for me to play a strong character. So dito, I put a lot more effort into making sure na iba si Cara, na she's very sweet, she's malambing. Pero hindi naman siya ganun kahinhin, may naughty side din siya."

Bianca doesn't mind working outside Manila as most of the shows she did in the past like Mulawin, Marimar, and Dyesebel, required the staff and crew to travel outside the city to shoot most of the scenes.

Thanks largely to its majestic and preserved Spanish-inspired architecture, the production team chose Bagac, Bataan as Zorro's setting.

It is interesting to take note that Bianca does not use her own car to ferry herself outside Manila to attend location shoots.

"Nakakatipid ako by riding the service, mahigit two years ko na yung ginagawa. I rarely, rarely, rarely bring a car. I ride with the GMA van," she shared.

BALANCING SCHOOL AND SHOWBIZ. Bianca is currently a scholar at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde where she is taking up Filmmaking.
