Commission on Human Rights condemns March 12 episode of Willing Willie

The Commission on Human Rights strongly condemns the Willing Willie episode aired on March 12, 2011, where  six-year old Jan-Jan Suan was made to perform a "macho-dancing routine." "This is an exploitation of the child's innocence and demeans his inherent dignity for entertainment's sake," says chairperson Loretta Rosales in a press statement released on Tuesday, March 29, about the controversial March 12 episode of Willing Willie.

(CLICK HERE to read related story.)

OTHER COMPLAINTS.

Kaugnay nito, hiniling ni Dinky Soliman na, "Young children should not be allowed to appear in Willing Willie and other similar shows in the network that cashes in on poverty."

(CLICK HERE to read related article.)

(CLICK HERE to read related story.)

"The Commission on Human Rights strongly condemns the Willing Willie episode aired on March 12, 2011 wherein a 6-year old boy named Jan-Jan Suan performed a 'macho-dancing routine.' This is an exploitation of the child's innocence and demeans his inherent dignity for entertainment's sake.

"The multiple pressures exerted on Jan-Jan by the TV program's host, audience, and his parents to perform a humiliating act in exchange for ten thousand pesos constitute child abuse as defined in Section 10 of R.A. No. 7610 or 'Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. It provides that:

"Other Acts of Neglect, Abuse, Cruelty or Exploitation and Other Conditions Prejudicial to the Child's Development. -

i watched the you tube of going bulilit as far as i know the kids didnt strut their stuff, they didnt seem un happy, no tears rolling down their cheeks, and was with other kids, no one was laughing at them, no adult was saying thats how hard life is now in philippines kids start young to support their family,no compared them to burlesque, no one asked them to the dance 3 times, now compare it to that little boy, on the stage on his own, if you dont see the difference theres something really wrong with you. but your right hindi child abuse, kaya lang hindi rin tama .

Post No.89 I think he is a good example of someone who has narcissistic personality disorder. Not many people are aware of this psychological disorder, but they should be as people who have it are not uncommon and they are responsible for an incredible amount of pain and heartache, as well as criminal behavior. Most of the worst disasters in human history are the work of narcissists.

ang masa lamang ang makapaghuhusga kay willie nde mga paeklat na sosyal. the masses know the real score. yun bata is doing the same routine since he was four coz his dad and his uncle own a parlor where the kid watched guys doing the exotic dance. even in school where hes studying he performed the same dance as his talent so whats the fuzz, hes not being abused, misguided peeps are barking at the wrong tree here. there are lots of kids out on the street who are being abused and the gov't should focus their attention not on willie.

I have read a lot of news articles about this issue and of course, PEP's articles and most posts from pepsters. Am just curious what Councilor Shalani's thoughts are about this.

To No. 70 Glak9 You are ignorant and stupid. Of course the child doesn't know what he is doing!he is 6 years old! Thats why adults should know better! Its clear that he was exploited.Even adult kung papasayawin nyo dun at lahat ng tao ay pinagtatawanan ka you will feel bad what more if u are 6 years old!And come on, you can see in the child's face that he is really ashamed. To all those people that says its ok,SHAME ON YOU!

Child abuse? Hard to determine. Poor taste? Definitely and yes, inappropriate. Kung sa America nangyari ito, competing TV networks would grab hold of this kid and interview him to bring down the other network!

What's making me sick of the situation is not mentioning Jan-Jan's parents for the abuse also? They are supposed to give their child a better life. It's not a child's responsibility to feed his healthy parents, let alone he is only 6 years old.If you can't afford to take care of your kids, then don't make them!..Kung ang rason ay dahil sa kahirapan, you know you are poor, isn't it enough reason not to bring a child in this world if you know you can't take care of them? Parusahan ang mga magulang.
