Cory Quirino on accepting post as pageant director of Miss World-Philippines: "Trabaho lang ito. Nothing personal."

" I've already reached out to them noong in-offer sa akin ang franchise. That was also noong nakaraang January. I called their office, pero wala raw doon si Mrs. Araneta. So I left a message kung puwede ba kaming mag-usap over dinner because of these things happening. But I never received a reply from anyone up to this day," says Miss World-Philippines pageant director Cory Quirino about her efforts to reach out to Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.   (In photo) Cory with GMA-7 executives Mr. Jimmy Duavit and Ms. Wilma Galvante during the contract signing for the exclusive network coverage of Miss World-Philippines last Tuesday, March 22.

Opisyal nang pumirma ang beauty and wellness guru at Chairwoman and CEO of CQ Global Quest na si Cory Quirino with GMA-7 bilang official TV network partner ng Miss World-Philippines 2011.

Naganap ang contract signing between Cory and GMA executives Mr. Jimmy Duavit (President and COO) and Ms. Wilma Galvante (Senior Vice-President for Entertainment Television) noong nakaraang Martes, March 22, sa boardroom ng GMA Network Center.

"They only gave me three minutes to decide if I want it or not!" natatawang pagbabalik-tanaw ni Cory sa panayam sa kanya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

"It was only in January of this year that Ms. Julia Morley talked with me with regards to the Miss World franchise. They really asked for me and they wanted an immediate answer if I would agree to handle the Miss World franchise.

"Like I said, they only gave me three minutes. Since I [only] had that short of a time time, I prayed to the Lord for a sign. Should I accept it or not? I immediately got an answer kaya hindi pa tapos ang three minutes, I said yes to them.

"I know that this will be a big challenge on my part. I've worked with many people before but this is the first time that I will embark in a national pageant. It's nerve-wracking but I accept the challenge. I know that God will always be there for me and guide me through everything."

Nakausap ng PEP si Cory sa formal launch ng Miss World-Philippines 2011 last Wednesday, March 23, sa SMDC Grand Showroom sa SM Mall of Asia Complex.

FORMAL TURNOVER.

"God is so good talaga. I never expected that it will all happen so fast. Parang kelan lang na kinausap nila ako for the handling of the franchise and we had a successful turnover.

"Then last Tuesday lang, official TV network na ng Miss World-Philippines ang GMA-7. If all of these are not God's work, I don't know what it is.

"Naniniwala kasi ako na kung hindi para sa iyo, hindi magaganap. But all of these blessings are coming in and I have nothing else to say kundi amen. Everything is really coming from God."

Ang company ni Cory rin ang may hawak sa Ms. World Malaysia and theyre putting up a Beauty Queen school ala Venezuela for Phil. and Malaysia kaya very good kasi makakatulong siya sa paghasa at pagpili ng national bets at ng Asian bets. Cory is a Quirino and proven na ang civic-mindedness and talino niyan. She has a very Filipina heart and can exploit our culture in designing gowns and other essentials to showcase our candidates.Plus she is transparent in her business dealings so no fear of corruption.Very good for our beauty queens kasi this time, BPCI will be forced to up their game and they will also have awesome choices which to join. And the prizes - fantastic.

Sa isang interview ke Julia Morley, kumalas sila sa BPCI because they want the pageant to focus on raising money for the charities and seeing the charities recieving all the help right away. Beauty with a purpose baga.Ang Ms World mismo ang kumalas sa dating arrangement pa na sa isang national contest and second placers ang pumapasok sa Ms World.Aside from the fact na ang pageant eh di nakakafocus sa charity and fund raising, ang beauty queen na best suited para maging Ms World ay di napipili ng maayos kasi parang secondary na lang yun.Additionally Ms.U is having issues with funding and charity work na rin so eto na, Ms. World is going for a separate franchise.

At last, a real beauty pageant! And I heard, ibibigay agad ang premyo. At may condo unit pa.

I'm sure Mrs Araneta and the rest of BPCI will take this personally. Remember how they reacted with Lara Quigaman's pageant? It was not even equal in scope and magnitude with the Bb Pilipinas. Hope the search for Ms. World Philippines will bring back the real prestige of being a beauty title holder, and will encourage the best candidates that will represent the country with the most chances of winning.

International standard of basehan plus mataas ang award. Mas competent na mga contestant kasi mahigpit ang screening.... not a risky business to stay in GMA7...

the big prizes would attract women of quality and substance, unfortunately through the years, the Bb Pilipinas, failed to invite worthy women cos of the recent cheap presentation of the contest, nakakasira din kasi yung poor screening that led to the circus like events which occurred sa question and answer. mas madali ng humanap ng babaeng may brains at mataas na EQ then isunod na lang ang beauty and figure, kesa dati na puro mga beauty pero kulang sa depth pag iisip ng mga babae, simple questions lang di pa maidefend ang sarili. like what happened to Janina and some other girls.

Next step for Cory Quirino and Miss World Philippines... embrace Filipino designers para sa gowns ng ipapadalang representative sa Miss World. They would love the exposure and they definitely deserve it.

buti pinay na ang naghahandle ng miss world-philippines. s BPCI si stella na isang columbian. kaloka kasi sa BPCI ang mura ng premyo. si rich asuncion nga 100,000 na nga lang premyo nya di pa nya nakuha. e ito 1million plus condo pa! dami na din nakaaway ni stella. si maggie naharrass sa china wala sya ginawa. ang maria isabel lopez is very vocal about her dislike of stella. di naman natin nararamdaman charity works ng BPCI.

I guess it's high time that the Miss World Philippines franchise stood on its own. First there was Mutya ng Pilipinas-World, then Binibining Pilipinas-World, but now Miss World-Philippines na talaga.
