The latest results of the nationwide Pulse Asia survey indicated that President Noynoy Aquino's approval rating dipped from 75 percent last March down to 71 percent in May.
In the same survey, it was noted that Vice President Jejomar Binay is presently the most trusted government official in the Philippines with 83 percent approval rating.
The ratings, says Presidential sister Kris Aquino, are not—in any way— dampening the spirits of PNoy.
The host-actress remarks, "Statistically daw, the 71 percent approval rating is still very high. I mean, it's 7 out of 10 Filipinos still like you."
Despite the report's negative implications, she says that the Aquino family, especially her brother, remain unfazed.
But, of course, they recognize the fact that something has to be done. And this had Kris and her sisters discussing how they can help to improve PNoy's public image.
"I think na, sinabi ko sa mga sisters ko din, na his weakness is that he does not self-promote," relates the Kapamilya star.
She cites Vice President Binay's text messaging service as an inspiration. The service sends daily text messages to mobile phone users giving them updates on the VP's latest works and accomplishments.
"Yung may text blast araw-araw si Vice President Binay about his achievements, lahat tayo nakakatanggap no'n. And you spend for that, di ba? Meron kang pondo for that."
"So sinabi ko sa mga kapatid ko, 'My God! Mag-ipon na tayo para may pondo din tayo.'"
HILLARY CLINTON LAUDS PNOY. The local media and press can only cover so much. Off camera, Kris says a lot of things have been happening.
"Kasi, like yung praise na nakukuha ni PNoy na nanggaling kay Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Ako, super proud dun. Kasi bongga talaga dahil America ang pumupuri sa atin about human trafficking."
In a span of one year, the Aquino administration had attained achievements that she believes people should be proud of. However, these achievements are not highly publicized unlike the other issues.
"Kasi, we tend to forget na bumagsak nang bongga ang standing natin in the international community in the past administration because we were riddled with accusations of corruption sa drugs. 'Di ba, parang naging daanan daw tayo ng [drug mules]?"
Kris proudly shares the text message she got from her sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz about the statement of Sec. Clinton on human trafficking:
