MVP says GMA-7 and TV5 merger may be finalized “within the year”

by Nerisa Almo posted on June 14, 2012  STATS: 1275 Views | 117 Comments

“There’s desire on both parties to come to terms,” says TV5 chairman Manny about the reported GMA-7-TV5 buyout during PLDT stockholders’ meeting earlier today, June 14.

Ayon naman sa ulat ng TV5 News, positibo ring inihayag ni MVP na, “There’s desire on both parties to come to terms.”

“We are in discussions with GMA-7… Nothing has been finalized... Discussions are moving positively… To come to terms, many issues to be discussed.”

TRUE OR NOT?

Aniya, “No mention of merger investment, combination. Certainly no mention of November deadline at all. Sure some people speculated and all I said was I can now say we, are under discussion but nothing finalized at this time.”

Sa hiwalay naman na interbyu kay Atty. Felipe Gozon, chairman at CEO ng GMA-7, sinabi niya, “Well, as I said, we are not selling. No, it’s true. I’ve been very consistent that we are not selling.

“However, sinabi ko naman being a realistic practical person that if we are offered a price that we think is right and we cannot refuse, e, sino ba naman ang hindi magbebenta kung kursunada mo yung price?”

Simple lang naman iyan, I work in a large corp here in the US in acquisitions. Yung company na kumikita at okay ang financial health, will NEVER EVER SELL or MERGE with a competition for no reason at all...why? Kasi the people who are being acquired will lose their power, some may even lose their powerful positions. Companies only sell or merge if they are experiencing financial hardship or in GMA7's case, they might be foreseeing a hardship in the near future and they are afraid they will not be able to sustain it.

MVP is a front for a corrupt politician. Old-timers like my mom who used to work in public service in the Philippines suspect that it is the Marcoses that is fronting MVP his money. My mom knows the Pangilinan family and when I told her he owns TV5, she just laughed.

Google it to believe...GMA7 income:2010: 2.8BILLION: 2011, 1.7BILLION - the company income had dropped tremendously over the last year, while ABS-CBN income has peaked at 3.2BILLION and 2.4BILLION in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Both companies need their income to RISE so as to keep pace w/ increasing competition. EXPENSES are getting Higher each year to counter offer talents and executives, So INCOME projection should go up. W/ GMA7's income trend, in 2012/2013, it is safe to assume that they will need the financial muscle of MVP. Hence the sale.

GMA 7 as a tv network has 3 international channel already available, GMA pinoy TV, GMA lifeTV and GMA newstv, its just some of those reasons why MVP likes to buy GMA 7 network, as a businessman he looks outside the Philippines of business expansions.

MVP is a Wise Businessman, He knows he can never beat GMA7 so instead he plans to own it by purchasing it... siyempre magaling na businessman din si Gozon, hindi naman niya basta basta ibibenta ng hindi kikita sila at protectahan ang mga GMA 7 assets.

this is crazy. Gozon said no negotiations or at least no formal ones. While MVP kept on saying otherwise. Now MVP confirmed it w/ his stockholders. And why Gozon et al is selling the Kapuso network to MVP? What will happen to his Kapuso fanatics? MVP had made an offer to ABS-CBN before for a hefty amount but Gabby Lopez is quick to say "WE ARE NOT FOR SALE". See the difference guys? It's called commitment to serve the nation. In our own words....

If GMA is truly the number one network in the Philippines how come the GMA owners are entertaining a merger or buyout whatever you call it from MVP? If you are really the number one network in the Philippines which means and istasyon mo dapat ang pinakamalaki ang kita and truly financially stable eh bakit ka pabibili? That means puro praise release at overhype ang claim ng GMA na number one sila, dahil kung number one sila they can have the means to actually buy out TV 5, and not the other way around na sila pa ang binibili!

kayee, ngbabasa k b? Ung 500 billion eh ndi nman s kanila galing un eh. Tpos ung 100 billion eh pipirma nga cya ng nkapikit eh. Ibig sabihin, ndi cya seryoso s cnasabi nya at ayaw nya tlaga ibenta ang GMA. Tapos. Cge qng tlagang wala cyang pgmamahal s istasyon edi sana nabenta n agad ang GMA at ung 2001 agreement eh naayos n o kya eh nghanap cya ng buyer ng network. Logic lng ha o bka wla k nun.
