Travelers Joint at the G-Strip in Greenhills, San Juan, is a four-in-one establishment—Internet cafe, travel agency, business center, and restaurant.
"How can you go wrong with that?" Sylvia Sanchez said when the place had its grand opening on August 19, 2007.
The soap opera star co-owns Travelers Joint with her good friends Myles Gamboa, Bobby Casuela, and Anne Rigor.
The four owners wanted a business that would reflect their talents and passions in life—traveling and eating. Their business application was originally for a travel agency (hence the name), but then they thought of adding a bistro-cum-coffee shop, where they could showcase their culinary specialties, such as Sylvia's chicken a la king, tacos, and tuna loaf.
Since online gaming is popular nowadays, and since Greenhills is a hot spot for teens and yuppies alike, the business partners decided to throw in a Net cafe and a business center.
"Yong lugar, although maliit, we really maximized it," says Sylvia. "Talagang nandiyan na lahat."
For Sylvia, showbiz still comes first. "Pero gusto ko naman magkaroon ng ibang field, matutunan 'yong mag-business," she adds. "Thankful ako na may mga show ako, pero may times din na wala. Sayang naman 'yong oras na 'yon."
