"Parang na-outgrow na namin yung isa't isa."
Kapuso star and Regal baby Jennica Garcia openly admitted that she no longer feels love for ex-flame and fellow GMA-7 talent Mart Escudero.
"We both tried to work things out. Kaya lang po, wala na po talaga, e," she frankly told the entertainment press yesterday, December 3, during her solo press conference for the "Lamang Lupa" episode of Shake Rattle and Roll XI.
This horror film is one of Regal Films' official entries to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. It also produced the family drama Mano Po 6: My Mother.
The 19-year-old actress also revealed that after her breakup with Mart, the love that she feels for him now is only friendship. "Iba na rin po yung priorities namin pareho. Tapos napansin namin na mas okay kami na magkaibigan. Mas masaya, ganyan," she said.
But although romantic links have been severed by the former couple, their onscreen ties have remained the same. In "Lamang Lupa," Jennica is involved in a love triangle with Mart Escudero and Kapamilya star Rayver Cruz. Also in the cast are Iya Villania, Bangs Garcia, and twin brothers Dominic and Felix Roco.
Having worked with him in Shake, Rattle, and Roll, how does she find Rayver Cruz?
"Mabait," answered Jennica. When asked to compare the Kapamilya star to Mart, she replied, "Pareho lang. Kasi parehong maputi. Parehong matangkad. Pareho lang."
During the press conference, Jennica said that she's too young for a serious relationship right now. "Na-realize ko rin, since nagkaroon na rin ako ng boyfriend, na hindi pa ako ready. I'm still young. Totoo lahat ng sinabi ni Mama [Jean Garcia], ni Papa[Jigo Garcia], na akala mo sinasabi lang nila kasi magulang mo sila, kasi gusto nila sa kanila ka lang. Pero totoo pala talaga."
Now that she's single, Jennica said she is open to dating, but she restricts her options to group dates. Jennica also shared that her suitors are limited to the non-showbiz cluster, and that no one from the industry has expressed interest in courting her.
Who then is her ideal man?
"Siyempre, gusto ko kasing cute ng Papa ko. Kasing pagiging mapagmahal ng Papa ko sa aming mga anak niya. 'Tsaka sana kapareho ko, may trabaho. 'Tsaka kailangan magkakaintindihan kami, emotionally, spiritually. 'Tsaka dapat family-oriented," she enumerated.
NO SEXY IMAGE. For Jennica, having a sexy image is not an option. "Wala po, wala po," was her firm reply when the entertainment press asked her about a possible shift into a more mature image.
"Yun talaga yung masasabi kong wala talaga," she replied, adding that several offers have been presented to her before. "Kaya lang, hindi po talaga, e, kasi baka atakihin po sa puso yung Papa ko, may hika pa yun," she answered, referring to her father and former actor Jigo Garcia, who is currently running for Quezon City councilor.
She also said that she's heard rumors about her having a role in the Sine Novela Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita?, but no formal talks have been made so far. Until then, she won't feel so confident about anything, said Jennica. There is buzz that the soap opera involves Jennica starring opposite her mother, Jean Garcia. Jennica said she can only pray for this project. "Sana mapunta sa amin ng mama ko para maiba naman, drama naman."
