StarStruck Season 3 Ultimate Female Survivor Jackie Rice assumes a mature role in the season-ender of Dear Friend titled "Tisay". Starting this Sunday, April 18, viewers will be able to see Jackie portray a college student named Ella who works as a club dancer named Shiva at night in order support her studies. The afternoon series directed by Jun Lana will air right after Party Pilipinas on GMA-7.
The cast members of Dear Friend Presents Tisay graced the press conference held yesterday, April 14, at Zirkoh Tomas Morato to promote their new show.
How did Jackie prepare for her role as a club dancer?
"Actually, wala akong idea sa mga babaeng ganun. Tinutulungan po ako nina Direk [Jun]. Pag may idea silang maganda, sinasabi nila, so tulungan lang po talaga kami," she says. The director then pointed out that they tapped a dancer to help Jackie internalize her character.
Did she find it difficult to assume this role?
"Uhmm, wala naman pong madali. Pero mapapadali kasi ginusto ko naman po yun, e."
How sexy will she be in this TV series?
"Actually hindi naman po talaga siya sexy. Mas mature lang po yung role niya," says Jackie about her dual roles in Tisay.
In a separate interview after the general press conference, Jackie says that she is glad to accept the role of Tisay. "Medyo daring siya kasi mature na talaga yung role ko ngayon. Hindi na siya pa-tweetums, mas may katuturan na po this time."
WAITING FOR BIG BREAK. Since this is her first time to assume the lead role in a TV series, did she get impatient while waiting for her big break?
"Hindi naman po ako nainip. Actually, habang naghihintay ako, mas natututo ako, di ba? Na ito talaga ang gusto ko."
Was she bothered when she was not being given projects in the past?
"Oo, na-bother ako!" she says jokingly. "Hindi po. Actually, mas naisip ko na tumatanda na ako at hindi ako pabata. Sayang kung hahayaan ko lang, e, may purpose kung bakit ako nanalo sa StarStruck. Hindi naman basta basta madali yun, e. Mahirap po ang sumali sa StarStruck, so ayoko pong sayangin yun. Yung mga bumoto sa akin, nagtiwala sa akin."
She defended the decision of the Kapuso executives to give more meaty roles to other stars.
"Actually, hindi ko masasabing kinakalimutan ako. Siguro ito lang talaga yung time na dito lang ako nabigyan [ng project]. Siguro alam nila dati matigas pa yung ulo ko, hindi ko pa alam yung gagawin ko. Siyempre, ang network, ayaw nila magsayang, ang dami pong naghihintay," she said.
