Once upon a time, Gretchen Barretto figured in a word war with Angelica Panganiban that could have gone really bad. It didn't. They got to know each other, liked each other, and are now friends. And now Gretchen is actually slated to work with Angelica in an upcoming TV series on ABS-CBN.

Gretchen revealed this when she was interviewed by PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on the set of Magkaribal last October 20.

She also said that she was open to going on a vacation with Angelica so that she could bond with the Rubi star.

"That would be very good, kung meron kaming a few days together, para magkakilanlan kami before doing the soap. Si Angelica kasi, kalog, so...hindi ako mahihirapan na maging close to her," Gretchen said, smiling.

Now that Magkaribal is ending, the star was asked what will she miss about Derek Ramsay—her leading man in the fashionserye, who is, in real life, the boyfriend of Angelica.

"Alam ko hindi ko siya mami-miss, kasi Derek ang type na pag naging kaibigan mo, he will always be there. Siya yung ganung klaseng kaibigan. He's just a text away, and I'm very happy that I not only have Derek, I also have Angelica.

"Especially now that I'm gonna work with Angelica, I'm sure magiging strong ang aming friendship. Coz I have the two of them now."

Then she predicted boldly, "Feeling ko mas magiging close kami ni Angelica kaysa kami ni Derek." 

What is the reaction of her life-partner Tonyboy Cojuangco to her doing a second teleserye?

"Dati nga, nagko-complain ako, 'I'm so tired. My body is aching. Puyat na puyat ako.' Then sabi niya, 'You're so arte.' He also told me, 'I know naman you're happiest when you work.'

"Naisip ko nga, wala na akong maitatago sa lalaking ito. Alam talaga niya na this is my world. Ito talaga ang magpapasaya sa akin."

MEETING MARTIN CASTRO. During the course of the interview, Gretchen narrated an instance that she said made her realize Derek was someone she could count on.

"Patrick Rosas is a very good friend of mine. Nung inimbita ko si Derek sa birthday party ni Patrick, dumating talaga siya, and after that, I said, 'Matino itong kausap.'" Patrick is Gretchen's favorite stylist and makeup artist.

In return, Gretchen took the time to grace a recent event featuring Derek.

"Even when I was busy during the launch ni Derek, iniwan ko ang meeting ko at pumunta ako. At naintindihan ni Tony yun. Kasi ayaw ni Tony pumunta sa bar, e, kaya pinayagan niya ako."
