San Miguel Corp. announces plan to bid for RPN-9 and IBC-13

IBC-13 and RPN-9 were the former top channels. Both have produced classic quality programs that are being remade by the top TV networks today.

Interesado ang San Miguel Corporation (SMC) na bilhin ang dalawang TV network ng gobyerno.

Ayon sa report ng Philippine Star ngayong araw, March 7, sasali na ang malaking business conglomerate sa bidding para sa RPN-9 at IBC-13.

Desidido na ang pamahalaang Aquino na i-privatize ang dalawang TV networks, na pagmamay-ari ng gobyerno simula noong 1986.

Ang estimated value ng IBC-13 ay P1.2 billion, samantalang ang sa RPN-9 naman ay P800 million.

Pahayag ni Ramon Ang, SMC President, sa Philippine Star, "SMC will join all government bidding to help."

Kasama sa plano ng SMC, na kilala sa food and beverage business, ang pagsali sa mundo ng telecommunications.

Ang dalawang government-owned networks ang dating nangunguna sa Philippine television.

Nagbukas ang RPN-9 noong 1969. Ilan sa mga programang naging popular dito noon ay ang John En Marsha, Flordeluna, at Superstar. Dito rin nagsimula ang Eat Bulaga!. Ang channel na ito rin ang unang nagsahimpapawid ng MariMar, ang unang Mexican drama na nai-dub sa Tagalog.

Sa ngayon ay ineere ng RPN-9 ang mga foreign programs ng cable at free-to-air channel na ETC.

Samantala, nagbukas naman ang IBC-13 noong 1961. Ilan sa mga programang naging popular dito noon ay ang Iskul Bukol, The Weakest Link, Chikiting Patrol, Okay Ka Fairy Ko!, Chika Chika Chicks, at Chicks to Chicks. Government-sponsored programs na ang karamihan sa ineere ng IBC-13 sa ngayon.

SMC will buy the assets and assume the liabilities of these two networks, then sell off one of the frequencies to someone else. Yan ang plano nila. Who would want to manage two VHF channels? Alam ko Solar ang bibili ng VHF signals ng RPN if this will push through. Afterall, SMC and Solar are in a business relationship.

Guys, please don't be blamed sa mga sinasabi ninyong masama tungkol sa pagkuha ng SMC for these 2 network stations in the Philippines. Please lang po, ok? Actually I will said na yes I agreed na maibenta ito at saka baka maging success nito.

That's a good thing to hear. I hope SMC will win the bid and combine the facilities so that it could have a wider reach in the nation and could produce quality entertaining shows. I'm also excited of the shift of the Philippines to Digital TV this coming 2015. High Definition TV!

that would be good news para naman mas dumami pa ang magkakaroon ng trabaho. more shows to watch here aside from TFC and GMA TV. its about time naman may industry na mag boom. sana next na ang movies. bring back the old days... diba mas maganda yung madami ang choices...

dapat maraming networks para di walang monopoly at syempre maraming choices ang viewers. baka mawala na rin ang mga exclusive contracts ng mga artista - something to look forward to. AND, best of all, mawala na rin ang loyalty ng mga kapamilya at kapuso. let the network earn their money, at huwag maging loyal sa isang network - let them produce good shows!

all about adam nag pilot sa IBC 13 pero magkakaroon ng rerun sa GMA 7 this year! YES! KAPUSO na ang mga ADAMS. pinagbibidahan nila Migui Moreno, Philipp Dunkel, Jeffrey Canlas, Martin Mendoza and Karlo Manalo of SHOWTIME, ang lalakeng nagpa tumbling kay VICE GANDA. hahahaha

may isang tv series na nag movie pilot last year sa IBC 13, title is ALL ABOUT ADAM, napapabalitang magsisimula ang season 1 nito sa GMA 7 na, sana bumalik nalang sila sa 13 at magiging private na rin.
