Rafael Rosell is currently on a "journey of life and self-discovery."

He told PEP.ph in an interview last Sunday, May 1, that he is deliberately choosing to be single for now.

The actor is cast as the younger brother of Dominic Ochoa in ABS-CBN's upcoming inspirational TV show, 100 Days to Heaven.

"I made a promise na for one year, si God lang ang ipu-pursue ko at wala munang girlfriend or kung ano ang puwedeng gawin sa isang babae," he said.

Does this mean that he is celibate for now?

"Yeah, one year of celibacy. Six months pa lang ako at ang hirap, pero kaya."

What has this experience taught him?

"I just learned to love life more," Rafael answered.

"Na-enjoy ko ang mga maliliit na bagay na hindi ko nakikita dahil nasa relationship ako.

"May tendency kasi ako na mag-absorb ng personality ng kasama ko.

"So, for the past eleven years, since lagi akong nasa relationship, naa-absorb ko ang traits at personality ng girlfriend ko.

"Since one year akong steady lang sa sarili ko, at wala munang lovelife, mahahanap ko rin kung sino ang totoong ako.

"Ang na-experience ko for the past six months—na-realize ko kung ano ang choices ko, ano ang standards ko."

How hard is it for him to be celibate?

"Very, very hard," he admits.
