Last month, ANC aired a video interview of Angel Aquino wherein she confided: "My tatay would make all the decisions at pag hindi siya nasusunod, o pag may mga bagay na hindi siya natutuwa, madali niyang masaktan ang nanay ko. Akala namin, ang tatay, ganun talaga ang role niya." Angel has two teenage daughters of her own. She says on cam: "Gusto kong malaman nila na hindi nila dapat payagan na mangyari 'to sa kanila."

Angel Aquino bravely admitted on cam that her mother was a battered wife.

This was revealed by Patricia Evangelista during the May 16 press conference for ANC's 15th anniversary offering titled Kinse at the ABS-CBN compound.

This is ANC's follow-up project to last year's controversial film amBisyon, which featured 20 short films dealing with election-related issues.

This year, ANC decided to feature 15 short films in the hope of putting a stop to different types of abuses in the Philippines.

Fifteen directors were chosen to create four- to six-minute short films that tackle a wide array of issues: domestic violence, extrajudicial killings, indigenous rights, and others.

Kinse will have a by-invitation theatrical premiere at the Little Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines this Thursday, May 19.

Actress and women's rights advocate Angel Aquino will host all six episodes of the Kinse film series that will air on ANC (Skycable Ch. 27) starting May 23.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to interview Patricia, who expressed her admiration for Angel's brave confession on ANC.

"She's got balls!" says Patricia, who personally talked to Angel regarding this sensitive topic.

"I don't think I would have said that if I were in her position.

"In the first place, you risk offending your own mother.

"We tried to get her to talk about it on Storyline but she said she wants to stick to human rights.

"She told us, 'I want it said, ayoko naman mag-dwell on it kasi baka ma-hurt ang nanay ko.'

"But she was willing to risk that just to tell the story.

"Ang lakas ng loob niya at ang laki ng paninindigan niya.
