At the Cinemalaya 2011 presscon yesterday, June 8, where trailers of the featured film entries were showcased to the press, Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa by writer-director Alvin Yapan and executive producer Alemberg Ang got the most intriguing reaction from the audience.
The film stars Jean Garcia and Kapuso young stars Paulo Avelino and Rocco Nacino.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Rocco who shared a few details about his first film.
"It's a love triangle with a twist. Sobrang galing ng pagkakagawa nito!
"They actually made four trailers for this. Yung tatlo is different points of view sa characters namin nila Paulo and Ms. Jean.
"Ang galing, mapapaisip talaga yung mga tao, 'Ano ba talaga sila? Ano ba sila sa isa't isa?'
"It's a nice concept, art talaga.
"We've been receiving nice comments sa trailers kaya I'm very proud to be part of this film," said Rocco.
There are many scenes in the movie that required him to dance. Did he train for it?
"Yes. Me, Ms. Jean, and Paulo had dance workshops for ballet, contemporary dance, and ethnic dance under Eli Jacinto who is very well known for ballet.
"For one month, we did that.
"After Party Pilipinas, takbo na ako agad sa workshop sa Las Piñas at magre-rehearse kami buong hapon hanggang gabi."
Party Pilipinas is the GMA-7 musical-variety show where Rocco regularly performs every Sunday afternoon.
Was it hard training for this kind of dance?
"Mahirap, kasi sa Party Pilipinas I do hip hop, e," he said.
