From pa-tweetums to romantic comedy, Jolina Magdangal is now gearing up for dramatic roles—which will manifest her versatility as an actress.

She told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview, "Nasubukan ko na magpatawa, ma-in love, mag-magic, marami na rin akong karakter na nagawa," but she wants to try her hand at "aktingan, iba-ibang level."

So, when asked about her dream roles, Jolens (her nickname) cited out-of-the-box scenarios.

Her first choice: "Pipi na nakasaksi ng crime."

The challenge, according to her, is how she will relate what she witnessed.

"Kitang-kita ko 'tapos gustong-gusto ko i-explain pero hindi ko alam pa'no," she added.

Next in her short list, "Mga indie na kung horror man, alam mo yung hindi mo akalaing ako pala yoong... Parang The Others, parang ganun..."

And last, she would want to surprise the public with something she's never done before.

"Akala mo, napakabait pero siya talaga yung...parang ano siya talaga...yung killer o siya talaga yung kontrabida."

Not that she's tired of the "safe" roles, but it's high time for the 32-year-old actress to flaunt what she's got.

She stated, "Ang gusto ko kasi, aktingan na yun lang mata [ang ginagamit], parang ganun. Dun mo makikita yung hurt, parang Lolita Rodriguez, yun."

(Acclaimed screen icon and award-winning drama actress Lolita Rodriguez began her acting career in 1954 playing comic and light drama roles, but eventually shifted to heavy drama, which had her playing the title role of Gilda.)

BED SCENE? This may or may not be part of the plan, she said.

Jolina couldn't actually fathom how a newbie earns the tag "mature actress" as soon as she starts tackling roles that are more daring.
