It's prom season once again so we'll be seeing young boys and girls on a night stroll in their gowns and suits.
But one boy, Grade 11 student Kurt Xavier Rafanan, is bound to be his school's center of attention.
Because on February 26, he will be arriving at his prom with his celebrity date Lovi Poe.
SHE SAID YES! At the opening of the watch brand Daniel Wellington's flagship store in Greenbelt 3, the actress related to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) how it happened.
An alumna of Colegio San Agustin (CSA), Lovi was asked to have a talk with its students last year.
She continued, "I was invited to the prom months ago.
"There’s this young boy who invited me to the prom in front of his classmates...I said, ‘I’ll think about it. I guess so, I guess.’
"I had an alumni talk last year pa yun.”
Then recently, she went again to CSA to talk about Social Graces.
“We talked about how high school students should carry themselves during the prom and every thing.”
For the second time, Kurt asked her if she can be his prom date.
“He asked me in front of his batchmates.
"And then I checked my schedule and then I said, ‘I am not doing anything, yes, why not?’"
In the video Lovi posted on Instagram, the entire auditorium vibrated with cheers.
Kurt tearfully said, “Thank you and I am looking forward to see you.”
Now as the day nears, Lovi can’t help but feel excited.
“That’s gonna be on February 26, yes I am gonna go to the prom. I am actually excited, kasi I am gonna be with my teachers, and I’ll feel like I am in 11th grade again.”
FLASHBACK. PEP got curious about her own prom.
She recalled, “I asked some guy to be my date.
“I asked because the guy that I wanted to go on a date with, may girlfriend siya nun.
"Apparently, I thought he’s gonna take his girlfriend pero he didn’t take his girlfriend.
“And I remember, it was my birthday pa that time and then the guy that I wanted to be in the prom with sent me flowers that day.
“And yun, kasi na-pressure ako to have a date, sana hindi na lang pala ako nag-date e di sana kaming dalawa,” Lovi laughed.
She continued, “But it’s okay, it’s part of the experience naman.”
Lastly, Lovi gave some tips to girls out there who will be attending their prom.
“Well, the generation kasi now, everyone is aware on how to look beautiful.
“It’s nice to always remember to keep it simple, always be youthful, not to rush on wearing outfits they can wear ten years from now or in the future,” said Lovi.
