Because it’s Iya Villania’s first pregnancy, she’s been reading books and turning to other celebrity moms for advice.
At her launch as the endorser of anti-allergy medicine Claritin, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media, “Wala nga akong alam e so I need to ask people na, na who have learned from experience."
Chynna Ortaleza has been helpful.
Vicky Morales and Marian Rivera have also given her some tips.
So if you are expecting or know someone who is expecting, here are tips from the soon-to-be mom and her friends.
The baby grows so fast, so it’s not practical to spend so much on things that he/she won't be needing soon.
But the Kapuso host chose not to buy.
"So yun, nanghiram na lang ako."
2. No matter what, remember that you’re a mom and also a wife.
She said, “Okay ganito, kapag nanganak ka na, makakalimutan mo na si Drew, just so you know, just keep this in mind yung mga ganon. I get a lot of help, [huwag siya pabayaan]."
3. "Try to bounce back as soon as you can."
That’s from her Ate Vicky.
Iya elaborated, “Because yun nga, there are a lot of moms na mababaliw sa bahay kasi puro baby na lang yung nasa isip nila, yung binbisihan nila…
“So hopefully, depending on how speedy my recovery will be, I hope that I can get back to work right away.
The latter will be be over even before she gives birth.
So Iya plans to go back to work as soon as she feels better.
“I think kakayanin ko naman na bumalik soon after I give birth.
4. Be prepared.
It will help if you have a checklist of the things that need to be purchased.
The Kapuso host is a bit wary that Baby A might be prone to allergy like her.
"Sana wala siyang mamana na allergy sa ‘kin kasi nga allergies are hereditary, di ba?
"So sana, wala siyang mamana sa ‘kin.
5. "I don’t have a yaya.”
Iya, who leads an active lifestyle, “wants to be a hands-on mom.”
Good thing, “Nandiyan naman yung mommy ko, e.
“At iba talaga yung pag-aalaga kapag family mo…
“That’s why I’m confident with my mom also so I don’t plan on getting a yaya.”
Laughing, she quipped, “Si Mommy magiging yaya.”
But turning serious, Iya continued, “I only really want to ask help for help from mom kapag kunwari wala ako sa bahay or may kailangan akong gawin or sandali akong mawawala or kunwari maliligo ako.
"‘Mama can you please keep an eye on Baby A?’”
Her hubby also wants to be a hands-on dad.
“Drew is gonna take care of the dirty nappies.
Lastly, she said, “Tingnan natin baka eventually, who knows, baka dun din yung ending ko [to have a yaya].
“But for the meantime, yun yung nakaplano.”
