Rachelle Ann Go chosen to play Fantine in London's Les Miserables

Filipina singer Rachelle Ann Go was chosen as the new Fantine in London’s West End production of Les Miserables.

After earning accolades for portraying Gigi in Miss Saigon, Rachelle Ann Go will be part of the London production of Les Miserables.

The Filipina singer-actress will bring life to Fantine, a poverty-stricken factory worker forced to become a prostitute in order to support her child Cosette.

Rachelle is expected to join the West End producion of Les Mis by June 15, 2015.

On May 11, the new cast members were revealed on the official website and the Twitter account of Les Mis.

The role of Fantine was popularized by Anne Hathaway in the Hollywood version released in 2012.

This 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of Les Miserables in London.

In her Twitter account, Rachelle Ann reacted to the news by tweeting: "I guess it's official! I will be FANTINE!!!! Aaaaaaaahhhhh"

In 1993, Lea Salonga was cast as Eponine in the 10th anniversary production of Les Miserables. In the 25th anniversary of Les Mis, Lea portrayed the tragic role of Fantine.

Rachelle has earned recognitions for her portrayal of a bar girl named Gigi in Miss Saigon. She previously won the Whatsonstage Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical and Best Featured Actress in the BroadwayWorld West End awards.
