PETA brings back Rak of Aegis for its 5th rerun, happening from June to August 2016.

Expect new projects and highly anticipated comebacks as the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) gears towards its golden year this 2016.

Opening the 49th theater season is one of PETA’s biggest hits; the comedy musical Rak of Aegis is back for its 5th rerun, happening from June to August 2016 with 82 shows.

Rak of Aegis features Aileen, a promodizer with big dreams of raising her family from the knee-deep floods that have plagued their town for months. This original Filipino musical features songs from the iconic band Aegis, with songs such as “Luha” “Halik” and “Basang-basa sa Ulan” with a star-studded ensemble on an award winning, must-see set.

Since its opening in 2014, Rak of Aegis has continued to wow audiences and critics, with well over 200 shows, and more than 20 citations for performance and technical categories including Outstanding Original Musical, Outstanding Ensemble performance for a Musical, Stage Direction for a Musical (Maribel Legarda), Musical Direction (Myke Salomon), Choreography (Gio Gahol), Costume Design (Carlo Pagunaling), Set Design (Mio Infante), Male and Female Featured Performances (Kalila Aguilos,  Sweet Plantado-Tiongson, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Myke Salomon,  Renz Verano, Lorenz Martinez, Pepe Herrera, Jerald Napoles, and Juliene Mendoza).

In partnership with The British Council and Japan Foundation, and directed by Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA)’s Artistic Director, Nona Shepphard, The Tempest reimagined grounds one of Shakespeare’s most famous works by using Typhoon Yolanda in telling the story of a powerful wizard named Prospero.  This Filipino adaptation will be written by award-winning writer and librettist Liza Magtoto, and will debut November 2016.

Caregivers by day, performers by night—five transgender overseas Filipino workers in Israel struggle to make ends meet, and find freedom and acceptance in a foreign land. Caredivas returns on February 2017 to kickstart PETA’s 50th season program.
