Once On This Island, a Broadway musical that featured Filipina actress Lea Salonga, earned a nomination at the 61st annual Grammy Awards.
The nominees were announced earlier today, December 7.
Once On This Island is in the running for Best Musical Theater Album award.
The other musical theater nominees in the category are: The Band's Visit, Carousel, Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert, and My Fair Lady.
Lea took to her social media accounts to express her excitement about the great news.
She wrote, "Pardon me for screaming but... THE ONCE ON THIS ISLAND CAST ALBUM JUST GOT NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY!!! OHHHHH MYYYYYY GODDDDDDDD!!!!!!!! We did it, Island Family!!!!!!!!!!"
Lea joined the Broadway's December 2017 revival of Once On This Island, and played the role of the goddess Erzulie.
The musical won the Best Musical Revival at the 72nd edition of Tony Awards held in June 2018.
