Protégé: The Battle for the Big Break hunt continues in Davao and Dagupan

PRESS STATEMENT FROM GMA-7:

"Two more Filipino music icons continued the nationwide search for the Ultimate Protégé as the 7th and 8th legs of auditions ensued last weekend in Davao and Dagupan. The chosen hopefuls will vie for the title in GMA Network's much-awaited singing superstar search titled Protégé.

"The Queen of Soul Jaya traveled around the largest city of Mindanao followed by Joey Generoso's hunt for potential protégés in Dagupan.

"Protégé hopefuls braved the heat and trooped to the SM Davao Event Center for the regional auditions. Davao's most promising music artists patiently waited for their numbers to be called to take a chance at the three slots allotted for the region's protégés.

"Together with audition master Arsi Baltazar, Jaya went around the city to find undiscovered, raw talents from Davao. There was an overwhelming outpour of emotions during the auditions. A 15-year-old girl amazed and touched the heart of Jaya with her powerful voice, fighting spirit and determination. The soul diva's tears fell upon learning of the aspirant's life story. Another female hopeful got the nod of the mentor with her great showmanship and impressed the crowd with her guitar skills.

"From Mindanao, the hunt continued in Dagupan where mentor Joey Generoso turned on his star radar for the hottest music acts of the city. Hundreds trooped to CSI Mall to show that Tagalog singers can become the greatest contenders in this battle for the big break. The popular lead vocalist of Side A was impressed with the contenders who joined the try-out and confessed that he had to make a tough decision in choosing his three potential protégés.

"The search is not yet over as two more cities will open their doors for the Protégé Call-out: Cagayan de Oro on August 10 with mentor Aiza Seguerra and in Manila on August 12 and 13 (SM Mall of Asia Music Hall) with mentor Gloc 9. The competition is open for solo, duo, trio and group acts of all ages.
