View complete screening schedule of the New Wave entries of the 37th MMFF

TRIBUTE TO INDIES.

Ayon kay Direk Mark Meily sa pinadala niyang email sa Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph), "After an intense viewing and deliberation of 33 entries for both Full Length and Student Short Films, the selection committee has chosen the list of five (5) films as this year's official selection for the Metro Manila Film Festival's New Wave Section."

Ang nakapasang limang full length indie films ay ang mga sumusunod: Dyagwar (Waley o Havey?) ni Direk Sid Pascua; HIV (Si Heidi, Si Ivy, at Si V) ni Direk Neal Tan; Ritwal ni Direk Yeng Grande; Haruo ni Direk Adolf Alix Jr.; at ang Pintakasi, directed by Lee Meily, Rep. Imee Marcos at Nelson Caguila.

ULAN - La Consolacion College (c/o Lito Casaje)

Ayon pa rin ay Direk Mark, "These films were chosen based on their content which includes the choice of subject, story and screenplay; and high technical standards (cinematography, design , sound, etc.).

"We would like to thank everyone who submitted and we are overwhelmed with the response as we have entries from as a far as Naga and even entries shot by high school students.

"There were 15 full-length films and 18 student short films submitted.

"The quality of most of the films as well as their command of the visual language are superior which is why it was difficult to choose which among them should be included in the selection.

"From this list, a group of judges will choose the Best Independent Feature (best indie film), Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Student Short Film. The GDRC office of Quezon City will also give a prize for the Most Gender Sensitive Independent film."
