Aljur Abrenica’s impression of “sosy” girls changes while shooting for Sosy Problems

Is it possible for one Aljur Abrenica to fall in love with a “sosy” girl?

The Machete star, known for his quiet confidence and boyish charm, says he goes for simple girl in real life.

Pero after reading the script, parang nagbago yung pananaw ko.”

Aljur stars in the GMA Films’s entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, Sosy Problems, which also stars the Kapuso channel beauties Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King, and Rhian Ramos.

The comedy-drama, directed by Andoy Ranay, gives a depiction of the lives of the upper-class characterized by their vanity, status-conscious selves, and their inconsequential problems.

The film originally carried the title Conyo Problems, which pertains to the derogatory Spanish term “conyo” by which the elite are called.

UNDERSTANDING A SOSSY GIRL. The 22-year-old actor tells that his notion about “sosy” girls was renewed by the film.

He realized after reading the script: “May dahilan kung bakit sila sossy.

So, hindi mo sila masisisi, e!”

Aljur hints that towards the end of the plot, the characters of Heart, Solenn, Rhian, and Bianca will undergo change.

Aljur shares that his own father is the perfect example of a plain joe who fell in love with a sossy” girl.

He mentions how his father, who started out as a waiter in a restaurant, was run after by rich girls.

LEADING LADIES. Asked how he finds the leading women of the film, Aljur says he is lucky to have worked with all of them in his previous projects.

One by one, he talks about them starting with Heart whom he was paired with in Chris Martinez’s remake of Temptation Island. Aljur and Heart also comprised the loveteam in the defunct teleserye Luna Mystika.

“Close kami, nagbibiruan kami.” The actor also talks about what he appreciates about his friendship with Heart— “Parang kahit yung mga bagay na personal, kahit ako, nagshe-share kami ng mga personal na bagay.”

What do they talk about?

He answers, “Past love lives and present love lives. Saka nag-aadvise din siya!”

Aljur, meanwhile, had the chance to get to know the model-artist Solenn in the same Martinez-directed film.

He tells of the French beauty, “Basta everytime nakakausap ko si Solenn walang nagbabago. Very approachable siya.

On the one hand, Aljur looks up to Bianca as an actress and a film school graduate.

The two last worked together in Last Prince, the GMA-7-produced fantaserye which starred Aljur as the leading man and Bianca, a villain. Aljur likewise helped out in Bianca’s thesis in college— a full-length film where he and Bianca played lead.

The actor says of Bianca, “Hanga ako sa kanya kasi multi-talented si Bianca. Estudyante na siya, graduate na siya. Certified director na siya! Artista pa siya!”

RHIAN RAMOS. Last but not the least, Aljur talks about Rhian. The half-Filipino, half-Welsh actress was paired with Aljur in the telefantasya series Ilumina. In March this year, Aljur was seen as Rhian’s leading man in Jade Castro’s romanctic-comedy, My Kontrabida Girl.

When asked which among the four gorgeous actresses is his favorite, Aljur automatically replies, “Wag mo ako papipiliin. Yung apat, close ko lahat, e!

“Sila lahat.
