While Solenn Heussaff’s character in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2012 entry Sosy Problems, is Filipina-French like her, the actress says they are so unlike.
Margaux, one of the four main roles in the comedy-drama directed by Andoy Ranay, is apparently a dumb, rich socialite. The character is also a daughter of a French ambassador and a frenemy (friend-enemy) to Heart Evangelista’s character, Claudia.
Solenn described her character, “Medyo tanga-tangahan. Laging nakabuka yung mouth. Parang dumb—Dumb and Dumber!”
Sosy Problems, GMA Films’s bet to the annual film fest, depicts the lifestyle of the “sossy” or the elite of society, characterized by their narcissistic problems and indulgence on the trivial.
The film previously carried the title Conyo Problems, pertaining to the derogatory tag “konyo” by which the Tag-lish speaking wealthy people are called today.
SO UNLIKER HER ROLE. The fashion designing-schooled, model, TV host, also professional makeup artist Solenn, is of course “not all like” Maurgaux.
Laughing, she said, “It’s not me at all. Yung girl na ito medyo maarte tapos super, super sosyal siya at… tanga siya. Medyo… may bobita side.”
Asked how she feels about being tagged a “socialite” by the public, Solenn replied, “Yeah, but that’s not coming from my mouth… [just] from the people around me.
“I don’t really know the word ‘socialite.’ Feeling ko yung mga tao, they think yung mga 'socialite' yung mga people who attend yung mga high-end events, yung mga party-party.
She said, “Pero ako, ayoko yung mga party at yung mga event. Lagi ako sa bahay, very chill lang ako. Pag may choice ako, I will not attend any event.”
ACTRESS? The multifarious Solenn told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that while she is doing more acting than painting or fashion-designing these days, being called an actress still feels “weird.”
“I didn’t study acting. So, para sa akin, fashion designer pa rin ako pero I’m not practicing it right now.”
At the moment, Solenn is juggling 3 acting jobs— the upcoming Kapuso series Indio also Regal Films’s latest movie offering Seduction. The latter stars Solenn with Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez.
“So, yung time ko more on sa acting, said Solenn, who also mentioned she only gets to sing in Sunday variety show Party Pilipinas.
AWARD. Upon mentioning the New Movie Actress award she was given at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies, Solenn was quick to react, “I don’t know. I… don’t really. They tell me [that] and I say, ‘Oh really? Okay, thank you.’”
The award, she said, grants her no bragging rights at all. If anything, she sees it as a motivation.
“It will help me want to be better sa mga susunod na mga movies. May challenge na ako ngayon, ganun.”
Does she see herself landing a nomination at the end of the year? Solenn shrugs off the idea.
She lastly said, “In everything I do, ayoko yung halfway. I always try to do my best in everything.”
