What better way to pay tribute to Francis Magalona than a love story inspired by the music of the late master rapper?
The hip hop dance film titled Kaleidoscope World was chosen to be the eighth official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival, completing the lineup for this year. This movie aims to pay homage to the music titles of Francis Magalona that deal with love, societal issues and Pinoy pride.
GMA Kapuso stars Sef Cadayona and Yassi Pressman play the lead roles in the movie. Lando (played by Sef) is a poor boy struggling with family problems while Elsa (played by Yassi) comes from a wealthy family.
Lando and Elsa’s paths cross during auditions for a hip hop dance crew that will compete in an international event. While the couple successfully makes it to the dance team, their respective performances become adversely affected by circumstances surrounding their life and their love.
Aside from showcasing hip hop, rap, graffiti art, and DJ mixing will also be showcased in this movie.
The film also stars Alma Concepcion, Mayton Eugenio, Pia Pilapil, Alireza Libre, Brylle Mondejar, Arnold Reyes, and William Angeles. It also introduces showbiz newcomers Guibo Codog, Mica Cornejo, and Jason Zimmerman.
In addition to special appearances by local artists, Kaleidoscope World also includes performances from various hip hop crews such as the Philippine All Stars, The Crew, UP Streetdance Club, LaSalle Dance Company-Street, Pinoy Funkin’ Styles, Manoeuvres, Breakism, Philippine Parkour & Freerunning Association, Legit Status, The A-Team and many others.
